is this in the woodstock movie? don't remember seeing this before. guess there's alot of tape of the performances out there that's been largely unseen.
1:08 The camera zooming out really sells how big Woodstock was and how nervous Joe had to have been since he was just thrown out there on stage that day with someone else's guitar that only had a string as its sling. He was just there to check it out that day because him and the Fish were supposed to go on the day after. Someone was running late and the organizers needed a guy who could fill in for a bit while the person who was running late got there. A by chance legendary performance!
It takes balls to go up in front of 200000+ people and do a flawless one man show like that. I'm so gratefull that I love this kind of music and not today's shit!
@nuaragonis Well it is a shame, but you can get the Blu Ray now mate.Remastered, it looks really good.I have only the Hendrix part here and I can tell you that it looks awesome.
Rhino Records, which released "Woodstock 40 Years On: Back To Yasgur's Farm", originally planned a 30-disc comprehensive release of everything recorded at Woodstock but were ultimately to obtain clearances from all the artists involved. This, their 6-disc, 8-hr. product omits such bands as Ten Years After, The Band, etc., even though it includes much previously unreleased material.
They need to have the whole Woodstock experience on a 10 disc set or something with every performance over the three day period in this type of quality.That would be amazing! How much you wanna bet that there is so much extra footage out there that we have not seen yet?
Can anyone make sense of his finger positioning? I see that the chords are posted above, but I cant figure out how he plays those chords in the video, especially how he does the switch between F# and A. (0:47 is what I mean).
I figure the guitar prolly isnt in standard tuning, can anyone help me out or give me a pointer?
Listen to his album "Music for Mond and Body", the fish were a special band in an era of some of the best music ever. I will say that he may have had better performances. As I've always said....."if you can remember the 1960's , you wern't there"
@ovelonse Im trying to figure out the same thing looks like a bar on 5th with E chord... doesn't sound right though... need to figure the strumming too.
Nobody at Mudstock cared that much for chip-toothed Joe Marxist McDonald. GROW UP, hippies.

@TheHippieDude @ovelonse This live versions chords are F# A and B.
If you want to make it sound shuffled during the verse switch F# to B with the strum. On the "I went [A]flying [B]high all the way" then back to F#.
The album version is A (shuffle with G) F and D but it's significantly different in vibe and style
