  • I vote they bring this to Disneyland :-)

  • I still have my Skippy doll I got there way back in '97 :)

  • skippy is in stitch's great escape......that proves imagineers like to keep things from rides built over other rides

  • This thing was the SHIT. I remember going there when I was a kid. It was so un-Disney and scary. It ruled. Too bad kids are so wussy now.

  • I can spot that forehead and nose ANYWHERE.. hahaha gotta love Tyra Banks

  • As missed as this attraction is, the preshow videos have not held up well. It would certainly have needed a thorough update to pull it out of 1994.

  • This one of my favorite rides they need to bring it back this video cause nostalga

  • I hear that the original version would've been set in the Nostromo, with X-S tech being Weyland-Yutani and the monster being the Alien! Now wouldn't that have been cool?

  • well hello tyra banks

  • Hey everyone my Skippy mask got in the art competition! There will be a picture of it and other masks in the cafeteria next week for faculty members to vote on.

  • In my high school art class we are making paper mache masks. I'm making my mask Skippy(before teleportation)! So far it looks good and I will start painting the color coat tomorrow. Wish me luck!(one antenna was bending a little the wrong way when it was wet with the base coat paint.)

  • I notice a part missing from the queue video! After "Profit is simply a byproduct we've learned to live with", he should say "So, join with me now won't you? And together we will seize the future with X-S!"

  • Hey last week I was at Magic Kingdom and I went on Stitch's Great Escape and paid extra attention to Skippy. Before that part of the show started, I asked a Cast Member if Skippy likes peanut butter, and he said yes! I asked because Skippy is also a peanut butter brand name. I also noticed that when Sergeant panicks about an incoming level three, Skippy and the Donut Guy panicked too! It was really cute.

  • Personally, I blame S.I.R. for what's about to happen since Mr. Curry decided to sound like a villian at 7:00 And look what he did to poor Skippy. This ride looks awesome, such a shame that it's gone now because in a ride, I'd rather be scared than grossed out, which it looks like is all Stitch does in the ride that replaced this. I think Disney world ought to bring it back and make absolutely sure that parents know what their children are in for and not complain about it if they get scared.

  • @HopelessRomantic999 YOu have a point, but remember, Disney knows what they're doing, There a very competent company, and if they see fit to change a ride, then h=they have good reason!

  • and nvr mind the h=. it was a typo!

  • @Broadwaypuppet Sorry, but I disagree! At the end of the day, we're human and are not incapable of error. This ride KILLED it and I was WICKED sorry to see it go!! Same thing happened with the Ichabod Crane haunted hayride attraction @ Fort Wilderness. Kids lost it, parents complained, threatening lawsuits (and there's your reason) and VOILA! Dumbed down version! Remember Countdown to Extinction? Too rough! Kids cried, even after all kinds of warnings and POOF! Just my 2 pfennings, FWIW.

  • @Sahbomnim I know, I just feel Disney doesn't deserve all the criticism they're giving. I do agree that Stitch is crap, but they got rid of it to conform to to the public's desire for pretty much one reason and that reason only: Profit. No matter how much Disney deceives you and how much you deceive yourself. But I do understand what you're saying, and I wish that this was still around so I could go on it myself. Just my 2 cents.

  • @Broadwaypuppet crap. I mean given

  • @Broadwaypuppet I hear ya. And I totally understand about the bottom line. I just hope so many parents complain about Tower of Terror, they they'll subsequently make THAT tame too! Ugh! I don't even wanna THINK about it! -_-

  • you know, they should bring this attraction back and put it in epcot. replace figment, or ellens energy adventure with this

  • Okay, I really dont mind Stitch in the actual show.

What I DO mind is the fact that they babied-up the pre-show, with replacing Clench, Spidlock, and Feemus with cartoon characters and turning SIR into a bumbling security guard.

Would have been much better if they kept the dark tone of it all and just replace the giant dragon with Stitch. At least then it would be somewhat palatable.

  • 3 people are the asshole parents who dragged their scared little kids into this kickass show.

  • @AaronardoAaronToon I was one of those kids who were dragged there when I was 5. Currently would wish I could go there now that I'm older and understand that its not real. :( it needs to come back.

  • @AaronardoAaronToon Best post EVER!!!! LMFAO!!! And you are SOOOOO RIGHT!!! LOL!!!!!!

  • is the robot voiced by tim curry?

  • @MEMoviez Yup, says so on the Wikipedia page.

  • I personally like the original version of the preshow more than the newer one. In the original version, Skippy is not suspended in teleportation (i dont think) and SIR's dialogue is much more bumbling and realistic. He feels remorse for frying poor Skippy. Too bad i never got to go on this ride. Though I do enjoy Stitch's Great Escape and the homage it pays to this one.

  • @ 3:38!! is that same alien used in stich!!! looks like it!!

  • im 12 so i nvr got on alien and ive seen vids of it y would they get rid of it it looks awesome cuz some kids got scared wasnt tht the point u guys must call disney and ask for alien bck

  • All of you idiots that has a gutteral mouth with such vulgar language, needs to get a big bar of soap and wash your mouth out.Because it's so full of filth it needs cleaning.Language like that is unecessary.Ah,but I forgot,it's probably coming from the generation from .......bash me if you must,I'm a big boy,I can take it.

  • Aw, that alien is cute. I thought it was different-looking though. Did they change it more than once?

  • @MostCamperKills

Oh, nevermind, I saw part 2, different f*cking scary alien ahahaha

  • @MostCamperKills Skippy is still there at Stitch's Great Escape, but he only serves a purpose as a level one prisoner, and his voice is lower, not as cute. And for times it changed, from the beginning as I understand, It was Flight To The Moon, then Mission To Mars, then Alien Encounter, then a slightly changed version of Alien Encounter(in this video), and now Stitch's Great Escape. I'm working on contacting Disney Imagineering with an idea to have Stitch and Alien Encounter at the same time :)

  • Wow I didn't know that, mission to mars I think I saw as a kid, but so long ago. Btw, I was confused, the cute alien is the first part, but the scary one I remember comes later hah. And sweet good luck, that would be amn wesome idea: they could have two "missions", one is for older audiences the other kid-friendly "Mission Stich" ;) I always wonder who keeps all the footage of attractions when they're taken down. Also, they should have a museum or something for all past attractions.

  • @MostCamperKills Martin Smith did this video and others like Timekeeper and Journey Into Imagination. Also I got a reply from Disney and a real person (not the usual computer response system) read and answered my message. It said they are trying to always have some new experiences along with familiar ones. But remember, they did bring back Captain EO and kept it longer than planned. I know they are busy with Shanghai Disneyland and updating Fantasyland, but they may use my idea!

  • @DisneyfanBeckers also the refurb of DCA

  • They actually wrote? How'd you find them? Sweet---Everybody should petition---heck, the souvenirs might be cool;like badges that show you graduated to scary Alien haha. And I never saw EO, thanks to YouTube though we get to see all these retired rides. I imagine how cool to find a section that brought visitors back to old disney--including rides, even though that couldn't be financially possible. But bring back Alien Encounter!

  • @MostCamperKills I was on the Disney official website and found a guest relations page where you can send comments and such. I think if enough people ask, they may bring back Alien Encounter!

  • @DisneyfanBeckers Hey big news!!! a few months ago there was a fire in the enchanted tiki room under new management. Now they made the show like the original one! I couldn't go to it even though I found out while in Disney World, because my pass was on blockout. But I will see it as soon as I can!

  • OMG it sounds like the robot demonstrator blokie is voice by Tim Curry!?! <3

  • @randomas666

You're right! I looked it up and it is indeed the great Tim Curry ^_^

  • We all know why this was closed. Because Jeffery Jones is an idiot.

  • There was a sign on the entrance saying it is not recommended for ages 12 and under

"Awww dont worry honey it wont be so bad!"

They should have kept this. The new stitch ride sucks, and I actually like stitch!

  • this looks great fuck i never went on it, i never ever will now FUCK u disney!!!!

  • they couldve put this ride in mgm or hollywood studios along with the tower of terror magic kingdom is more for families

  • @regularshow99 i think they put this ride in this part of the park was beacaue it was future oriented sort of ,which is why it was in furtureworld.

  • poor little fuzzy dude!

  • I went on this when I was eight and cried i was so scared, then we went again when I was 12 and it was Stcih. Stich needs to go back to whattever planet he came from and give us a GOOD ride.

  • @MadameMadHatter Agreed. A lot of people agree with you. Out of about 10 travel guides I flipped through at the store, only ONE said Stitch was somewhat decent. None of the other guides gave the attraction over a 2 star rating.

It's easy to see why it's so poorly rated. Eisner greenlighted Alien Encounter because he wanted to appeal to the teen/adult demographic, which was an obvious success. The refurb took away appeal from teens and failed to deliver it to a new demographic.

  • loved this ride but I have to wonder if part of the reason it's gone was the decreasing wait lines. By the time it closed it was basically a walk on for me.

  • man that ride was awesomly scary

  • Making a remake of this. The Alien Encounter Home Edition LOL

  • this was too intense for little kids, and stitch is still too intense for little kids and boring to adults, that's where disney went wrong.

  • @funspot101 Exactly. Even if you change the alien from hostile to mischevious, kids will still get scared any time you strap them down in a dark room and spray stuff at them.

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 But... the extraTERRORextrail alien encounter was, kind of un-disney-like... I wouldn't mind seeing an audio animatronic show based on the future :)

  • @funspot101 I could have to do with the fact that it was originally intended to be an attraction based on the Aliens franchise. When that fell through, they went ahead with making their own original alien creation and shady sci-fi tech company.

  • @Matsudaimaru ...you make a good point... disney also used universal villains for halloween, then finally started to use their own... and Back to the Future: The Ride was originally supposed to be in tomorrowland :) I guess disney really did need to use their own material... i'm waiting for an oswald attraction to replace this, the "toon generator" get Oswald the rabbit from an old cartoon, and causes...chaos! kind of like this, but disney would have to do it a little better.....................

  • @funspot101 At Disneyland you go to hell on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride. Is that very Disney-like? Also the Haunted Mansion deals with death, Pirates ransack a town, on the Great Movie Ride they deal with gangsters and the alien from the Alien movies, on Tower of Terror you "get killed" and get sent to the Twilight Zone, in Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Show there is tons of violence, and the old hag tries to kill Snow White. How does any of that fit the Disney image?

  • @Benstudio13 because they are classic attractions, and tot and tgmr were part of MGM studios, not really focusing on disney but kept them cuz they were popular.

  • @funspot101 Who said Alien Encounter wasn't classic? And it was popular to the day it closed. Rides not based on Disney are some of the greatest Disney has at the parks. Like Small World (at WDW), Pirates (pre-Jack), Great Moments With Mr. Lincoln/Hall of Presidents, Spaceship Earth, Test Track, Mission: SPACE, Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, and the Matterhorn/Expedition Everest. How come all of those get to stay with no Disney reference but Alien Encounter has to go?

  • @Benstudio13 You left out Haunted Mansion. Which is the greatest ride ever in my opinion.

  • @Benstudio13 I didn't mean it like that. But the ExtraTERRORestrial Alien Encounter is not DISNEY's design. It's a Universal Studios movie, not Disney. Disney has not produced it. As far as I'm concerned tho, this still was better. But I think Universal can stay at Universal.

  • @Benstudio13 Don't forget older rides like Journey into Imagination, Horizons, The Living Seas, Maelstrom.( Yes I like EPCOT Center. @funspot101 Alien was a 20th Century Fox film. This was not based on those films as far as I know. And Disney did design this attraction.

  • Poor Skippy :-(

  • Phil Hartman version > Tim Curry Version of SIR. FTW.

  • They replaced THIS with a Stitch ride?! Bullshit.

  • AAAWWWWWW, Skippy is super cute. ^^

  • They should have included this in Epic Mickey.

  • Does anyone know where I can download the song from 0:00 to 1:10 for free?

  • I hate that I would be able to take actually going on the ride now (I was an easily frightened kid so I never went) and now it's gone!!! And im going to orlando in January !! ARRGHH

  • That alien chick looks like the Borg queen. . .

  • BEST PLACE I CAN THINK OFF!!!!!!!

  • I would've never gone on this ride, but the whole X-S thing is funny...

  • Dude. I wish I could go on this ride again. I went on this when I was 7, it scared the shit out of me, but I loved it. xD It sucks that they took it out. :\

  • I'm so bummed that when I had the chance to go on this, I bailed. GAH!

  • man, if i ever get a lot of money i'm going to re-build this.

  • is the robot Alan Rickman?

  • @Rathause

It's not Alan Rickman, but Tim Curry. :)

  • i remember when they had this at disney, but i was young, i remember i didnt wanna go on it cuz i was too scared, but i wish i would have! haha

  • the music has a remix and is now playing as part of the background music

  • I only went on this once...I was so scared that I put my knees on top of my shoes to make me look shorter so I couldn't get on but obviously that didn't work haha.

  • i never even got to go on! and i wanted to so bad! but my 10 year old sister and 6year old me had to wait outside while my mom and aunt went in!

  • Also, Am I the only one that thinks of Frank-N-Furter's speech in Rocky Horror when S.I.R. is talking near the end?

  • @OnlyXInXWonderland I do too !

  • I wish I could have went. They took it out before I went hough... This looks much cooler than Stich's great escape! A little scary for kids though?

  • @OnlyXInXWonderland Actually, kids weren't aloud in , nor was ANYBODY with any problems! :o You had to be 18 and up :(

  • @MermaidAbbey Thats not true. They let kids on. I beleive they had a height requirement and thats all. There were warning signs everywhere and the cast warned people incessantly. I worked for MK when this attraction was open and spent a lot of time in line talking to kids and their parent, explaining what happens. One little girl was so freaked about things touching her that she insisted on sitting next to me so I could hold her hand since her parents had not been and I had. That was interesting

  • @MermaidAbbey That's not true. They let anyone on. All they had were some signs warning the ride was too scary for kids under 12. But parents ignored these signs and took even 5 year olds on. They complained and Disney got sick of it and tore it down.

  • hey thats te same fuzzy little friend from stitches great escape...lol

  • i cannot believe they took this out and put that stupid stich thing in...

  • at one point i could almost swear i heard the terminator theme song while tim curry was speaking.. lol

  • Wait... indefinately...? OH NOES, SKIPPY!!!! :( Now he's all atoms... forever... that's food for thought...

  • Oh my god!! This ride ABSOLUTELY terrified me as a child! For some reason I couldn't convince myself it was fake and I walked out absolutely hysterical! I always wanted to go back on it as an adult, I'm so mad they took it out!

  • holy shit, i went on this thing as a kid, i didn't know they closed it down. It was a great ride.

  • Dan this was so awesome...Stitch's Great Escape will never compare

  • doesnt the chairman get fried up when theyre supposed to transport him? and then they pisk up the alien thinking its him. its been so long lol

  • this ride scared the crap out of me when i was little :P

  • SAVE SKIPPY!!!!!!!

    I miss this attraction :(

  • haha that is Tyra at the beginning!

  • that audio is crystal clear... it doesnt sound like you just recorded it

  • Comment removed

  • o->-<

  • lol the monster at 4:57 is i think still there on the stich ride

  • BRING THIS BACK!!!

  • aww poor skippy :D

  • "Bon Voyaaaage!"

  • @LethalLaurie i am in a play in which i salute someone, i am gonna add Bon Voyaaagge in as a tribute to this attraction

  • @McleanMedia Awesooome, do it. Do it hardcore. XD

  • ahhh, the good old days.

  • Weyland Yutani, building better- oh wait.

  • thats what this should have been

  • How had I not heard of this before today? It had TIM CURRY! Man I would love to go on this ride today. Too bad. Good editing there.

  • I loved this

  • tim curry is S.I.R!!!

  • What year did they change it to the second version? What was changed from the original version?

  • The only thing that actually changed was SIR. In the original, SIR was voiced by Phil Hartman (Before Tim Curry) and was learning how to use the teleporter, instead of already knowing how to use it. There is one video showing the old preshow if you want to see it.

  • Oh ok, thanks for clearing it up for me. I have seen the Phil Hartman video, as well as the Tim Curry version in person. For some reason I thought they had changed the theater part. I noticed in the trailer that the ride is quieter and the alien seems to do more when it bursts out of the tube.

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 Actually, the original ride (with Phil Hartman preshow) was slightly different from the ride most know today. For example, the technician getting eaten wasn't there, it had more comedic lines from Spinlok and Dr. Feemus, and the chairmen does eventually get beamed to Earth...once the tube is locked down.

  • do you mean the moon mission mars mission or the crappy stitch ride

  • I meant changed the theater part at the end where we see the scary alien. Just for the record, though, death to the crappy stitch ride! At least the mars ride was educational, yes?

  • grr is this the ride i went on when i was younger. all i remember is some stich look alike in a tube and we had to follow him into a room and he started breathing fire and shit. I can't remember the name of it :(. but it's not the new one that's gay.

  • DISNEY REBUILD THIS YOU HEAR ME!!!!!! then just put a sign saying Warning: some frightning images

  • They had one. Dumb fucking parents forced their kids on anyways.

  • @Typet360 Like mine. I remember this ride all too fondly.

  • I went on this ride when I was 12, it scared me so bad, I would'nt go downstairs without a buddy for 2 weeks, it was awesome!

  • Why is all the good stuff gone now. Now it's all shitty pixar stuff in tomorrowland except for space mountain, carosell of progress and the go carts, and WTF happened to the awesome stuff at epcot now epcot sucks

  • Skippy!!!

  • I give two middle fingers up for Disney taking this out. It was amazing as hell! And all because some dumbass parents took their 5 year old on it and complained.

    >:(

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @AdrenalineAddict610

I never understood the whole "take a thing out cuz someone person complained" if they don't like it. Then tell them to fuck off, and not go on it.

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 Their little boys grew up to wear dresses, and suck dicks. Just as their parents intended.

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 It was not just that, according to wikipedia, "Its closure may have been due to its expensive operational cost and complaints from parents about the show's dark nature, another factor may have been the widely publicized sex-offense conviction of actor Jeffrey Jones(who plays Chairman L.C. Clench in the show) in early 2003"

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 i completely agree with you, its funny that they close this attraction down and then a few years later at Disneyland in Anaheim they turn Space Mountain into Ghost Galaxy, which in my opinion, is wayyy scarier than this... stupid management

  • @AdrenalineAddict610 and even know the replaced it stitch still scares llittle kids. You can ask me I went on that ride when i was 5 or 7 and it scared the crap out of me

  • The alien from this ride was actually a finished animitronic and is now used at the great movie ride and i suppose the Nostromo set from the intended ride here is in there too.

  • really? I didn't know that. Well, it has been a while since I went on the great movie ride, so that's no surprise.

  • It's Wonka Vision!

  • I think ,since this ride doesnt fit in a Disney theme park, I think it would fit in a Universal theme park. If they did the show there, then they would feature the title creature from "Alien."

  • But what would happen to the Geiger alien in the Great Movie Ride?

  • well they should still have it in that ride

  • Tim Curry did an awesome job as the voice of S.I.R.!

  • If they HAD to put Stitch in it, I'd prefer it have the same storyline with XS Tech accidentally beaming the little bugger in the room with you. INstead of all this kiddie cartoon nonsense.

  • i went on this shit when i was like 8 and it scared me to hell, fun to watch now though!

  • Me too, dude. Horrifying stuff when your a kid.

  • Originally the ride was going to feature the title creature from the 1979 movie Alien and X-S Tech was originally going to be the Weyland-Yutani Corporation but they changed the idea be cause Disney rides have to be G or PG.

  • @SONICSATAMJAMER77

Not true. The rights to the Alien character were never secured. Disney decided to go with an original creature of its own design.

  • It's ashame they got rid of this attraction. It was great. I can't help but wonder if this attraction would be around today if Disney put it in EPCOT or Hollywood Studios/MGM.

  • I'm sad now after watching this video. BEST RIDE EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111

  • which disneyland is this

  • This is Disney World

  • The one in Florida

  • the stich version blows ass. it was disney worlds greatest disappointment

  • Omg this ride scared me to death when i was lil my dad wanted to go on it

  • it like the terminator ride

  • Your thinking of the wrong theme park. Terminator 2: 3D is at Universal Studios and Terminator Salvation: The Ride is at Six Flags Magic Mountain.

  • I'm extremely upset. I got to ride it once and I don't remember it at all. All I remember is that I came out loving it and scared at the same time! I wish I could ride it again! Stupid Stitch....

  • I went in this in the late nineties!! It scared the s**t outta me! Really phsycologically frightening! You could hear it running round the auditorium behind you - and each person trapped in their seat thought it was breathing behind THEM! lol! Clever stuff! Shame it's gone now! Should have re-opened on International Drive!

  • I went on this ride as a kid, and I remember being scared so much but then when I got older, realized how amazing it was!! One of the best rides in disney, and it got me into the alien movies!!

  • i rode this when i was 8 and it scared the shite out of me :D but i loved it!! :D damn i wish it was still there!

  • Why not keep the 1st Alien (for the frown ups) and leave Lilo & Stich for the shorties? I onlu know the 1st alien and I must say I felt uncomfortable there... in other words it was a great attraction.

  • I agree. They should have the "Stitch Side" and then the "Alien Encounter Side" (ala Mission: Space)

I cant believe they got rid of this ride. >:(

  • As much as i like lilo and stitch, the extra terrorestrial alien encounter was just freakin awesome. it scared the piss outa me the first time i saw it and i was hooked. i guess all good things come to an end

  • i remember when i was six and went on it. You could feel it breathing down my neck and shit. a guy got eaten and stuff. I was so fuckin scared. they closed it cuz a kid had a heart attack.

  • That looks a really awesome and unique ride, too bad it closed

  • @ MeggChan: He is. Along with Hopper in the Bugs Life 3-D Show, The Wicked Witch in the Great Movie Ride, Buzz Lightyear in the Astroblasters Waiting Line, and Jack Sparrow in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. I wish they kept this ride :(...

For those of you who don't know what A-100's are, they're the new models of robots used by Disney to make their animatronics seem more lifelike. Originally they couldn't go very fast, so they had to sacrifice speed for control. A-100s move much faster.

  • isnt this stich now

  • Yea, I think that they changed it because a lot of people complained about how a ride that scary should not have been in a park like this.

  • 1:35

    Tyra? She was the alien
