It may have been wasting them, but was funny! The mikes lasting were probably from high impedance.

The mike that didn't want to blow actually still works fine! It had 41.5 volts AC across it for a good 10 seconds and yet there was absolutely no damage. Maybe it's because of its high impedance (500 ohms, versus 4-16 ohms for speakers and 32 ohms for headphones).

thats how i get rid of old speakers too. but i use a lower voltage and slow cook them. its fun to watch them start smoking before they burn up. nice vid.
