  • really we need ultimate ever green kind of words when talking about ilayaraja sir

ilayaraja sir is a gift to us

    we love you sir

  • RAJA sir BEST ever, ARR jsut nothing in front of him, JANAKI amma, SPB, SUSELA VANI ee goppavalu RAJA sir pataku pranam posaru

  • ilayaraja IS GREAT AND SUPER MUSICIAN

  • offcourse S janaki is all time favorite

  • difference between IR and ARR is the difference between a creative artist and a knowledgeable technician. IR's music has 'soul' in it - with 'ethereal beauty' and 'divine inspiration'. whereas ARR's music has 'complexity' & 'intelligence'.

  • @sanagavarapus well said

  • i don't think it is just his humility. he is a true artist, an inspired one - not a cerebral one !

  • music god ilayaraja

  • listen guys... both are very good composers.. both are down to earth... as technology advances everything changes.. music also changes...:-)... raja sir was completely a manual man... arr uses tech as well as manual stuffs... both are good...

  • does he play guitar also

  • @rajsharma75 hez an amazing guitarist

  • Ntv .. you should change your editor.. he screwed up the whole interview by playing annoyingly loud background song..

  • Both are equally good composers............but my choice is Ilayaraja sir.......can't help it.

  • Frnds Both IR & AR are gr8 music directors..........The only diff i get between these two is..........IR's makes u cry and fills bliss in ur heart, His music is based on ragas and u can feel nature in his music whereas AR inspires and motivates ur feelings and adrenaline releases.........u feel an urge to achieve something in life.......AR's music is based on orchestration.....He blends western and Indian classic...........Each one hav their own specialty. Now temme who is gr8est.....

  • Ya no wonder Ilayaraja got the oscar and grammy awards.

  • That is a religious obligation and it is said in Tamil. Every practising person from that religion (anyway it should be done by people from all religion) have to utter those words in praise of the their almighty. Other than that, Rahman is a man of few words. He express his feelings through music alone.

Raja's knowledge in music is far and wide. He express himself in music and words as well. In this pressured and competitive urban life, people gets agitated, when you speaks your mind.

  • we all curse arr cos we think is too away from tamil music,. well fellows he is still mozart of madras. he utters those tamil verses in every place. One of the most unfortunate thing is raja sir deserves zillion times praise and recognision then what he gets now. un sung heros. so we shud be happy another person is getting on behalf of all of us(arr)

  • Raja sir knows what arr is worth of. Only a genius knows who is genius. period.

  • Some people are making comment on ARR. Well , i dont want to comepare both.

But IR is always great. ARR is quite cannot be comapred. His compositions are not that great. One challenge...ask him to go to budapest and ask him to stand before the musician then the truth will come out. In case of IR he doesnt adertise it and he is not a good sales person thats it.

  • tho hes a tmail ,owned by all southieees...we all united by his music .

  • well said my brother

  • please dont compare arr with the maestro raja sir. arr is not even 1% compared to our maestro ilayaraja.

  • well said sir ..

  • Then whey he not doing music now

    Arr music reaches more people

World record holder for selling more albums than any one

You may be illayaraja fan, it may be difficult for you digest

Compare ARR with the world musicians not the local people

  • @bybng hey yes dont compare MUSIC god IRAJA withOrdinary ARR. Who is loca??l ARR worked under RAJA its not music its noise more than song , no lyrics, nothing, Listen to RAJA, MAHADEVAN song every one will cry , dont underesimate legends.

  • @mahabab wo wo!!!! that's a bit too harsh for ar fans my friend.

  • Great interview Shatabisha !! Just amazing.. I rarely see his interviews in the TV. You are the one who made me feel better today.

Only disappointing thing is the songs coming in the background dominating Raaja sir's voice not audible at some places. The Ntv people should have taken some care.

  • You are very right sir...

  • @sx42007 i second that. for me he is zero before raaja

  • the brilliant and genious Ilyaraja. The legend. The only person who comes close to him is Rehman.

  • This is most inspiring. The way he speaks clearly shows the frequency how the thinks and how he travels towards the oneness through music.

    May Salutes Raja Sir...

    Entharo Mahanubhavulu...

  • Firstly, For the first time IR sir has really praised anyone except Bach and Mozart.

Secondly, Its nearly 20 years since his interview with Frontline, IR sir still is unable to make a common man understand his views.

Long live the musical divine -IR!

  • wow wow wow. what a treat to the eyes of music lovers??? amazing and very rare interview you caught. Raja sir's telugu is very good too. i wish him all the best and im blessed to witness this event . thanks once again

  • The important thing is the effort ! Sometime back he didn't know anything but Tamil. His English, Telugu and Malayalam have all improved. He's not embarassed at all to talk fully and completely in telugu. Not afraid to make mistakes ! That's a champion !

His brother Gangai Amaran went as a judge on a malayalam show and had to talk to the host who knew Malayalam and English but no Tamil. He knew only tamil. His struggles were hard to watch on TV !
