  • I have a Ion VCR 2 PC, and I'm having problems with small horizontal lines appearing in my video. The instructions state that I should go to the Home Screen, click Convert, click Advanced Settings, and Deinterface. It says turn the Deinterfacing "On" to improve the smoothness of the image. It also offers Cropping, Noise Reduction, Brightness Correction, and Color Correction. I have searched the entire program and can't find the site that offers all of these options. Where are they?

  • This is the worst software out there. It sucks with a capital S, U, C, K and S. It may have been good software in 1992, but now it's an outdated, poorly performing piece of junk. Avoid at all costs.

  • What when I want to burn a disc from various tapes. How can I put the files together?

  • I'm receiving the following msg and do not know how to fix: "The device is not available or is being used by another application. Please close any application that may be using the device and tryp again". Help please!

  • @karolhigg I had the same problem. After calling the helpline the problem was the drivers had not been downloaded and operational. I downloaded them from ionaudio.com/support/downloads/video-2-pc and followed a quite complicated series of instructions to unzip the files and work with them in Device Manager. The series of instructions can be found at ionaudio.com/downloads/video2pc_troubleshooting_guide.pdf After I did all this the programme has been working fine!

  • Updating on the burning only original versions, not edited versions ... I emailed IonAudio 1.5 weeks ago, never heard back from them. I just phoned them at 401-658-3743, the rep took the information regarding not burning shortened versions, said he'd not heard this was an issue for anyone, and would send the information on to have someone look into it. I don't know when they'll get back to me, but if they do, I'll post the answer.

  • Are you answering comments? I can't tell. If you are, I really wish you'd make another tutorial video explaining how to use the editing software, expanding beyond a simple cut.

I don't understand how to make chapters, how the thumbnails work, what the CH + and - buttons do, how setting the aspect ratio works, etc.

PLEASE come back and expand on the editing software tutorial .... :-)

  • Thank you for the tutorial. Everything worked well, and we used the burn option to make dvds. The sound is fine on the computer and on a dvd player, but is distorted on our blue ray player. Should we have used a special audio setting?

  • I used VCR2PC to transfer some video to my computer. I noticed when I played the file from the hard drive the audio and video were out of sync. Also I used Sony DVD Architect to burn it to DVD. The audio and video were out of sync. Would you have any Idea why this happened? My OS is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit.

  • How do you use this to capture PS3 gameplay? I know that people use this for their capture card.

  • Thank you for these clips. Between these and the trouble shooting guide, I was able to download a driver for windows 7. The only trouble I am having now is after, I cut off about 15 mins with my editing, I saved it. When I go to burn to disc,I see that it is the editted version but once I click burn to disc and it asks me to pick a file, as soon as I pick it, it changes to the longer version. Help

  • @cindybec332 Did you solve the problem? The same thing is happening to me; the software is burning the longer, unedited version of the video.

  • @kigersthree when i burn to a DVD from within ION it burns the cut version. When I burn from outside ION e.g. from the video file that has been made it burns the uncut version. I contacted our UK help centre and they said that this is how the program works; we need to use an external software to edit the video if we want to do anything with it outwith the ION software

  • Thanks for posting this

I've had VCR2PC for about three months now but I can never get the videos to play in the software (the device itself does play them) or get recorded. And I've tried several different tapes, from old ones to brand new.

  • Hoi, please can you tell me what the settings are for a normal video. I see te movie, but I don't hear anything. I used audio pin source.

  • IT COMES UP WITH INVALID FILE DIRECTORY. WHY. I RECORDED DVDS FINE IN THE PAST.

  • @KBLAND5 why did you but this peace of shit.... should of just got a tv tuner... or a dvd recorder

  • I RECORED A BUNCH OF TAPE TO DVD. ALL OF A SUDDEN I CAN'T RECORD.

IT SHOW THE VIDEO BUT IT WILL NOT RECORD. WHY

  • Can you convert PAL videos to NTSC and burn to disc using this product, or is th format setting only for viewing.

  • Is there any way to mute this thing? Because I'd like to use my computer's speakers while recording VHSs.

  • I have downladed the VHS to my PC with the VCR2PC, It is saved as something, I think mpg, but the portable media device I have only playsed AVI files so I need to know how to convert whatever type of file this is to a AVI file.... Can someone help me out?

  • in spanish pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeee..................

  • We've had our machine for 18 months and STILL can't transfer videos over! We can see the video playing in the top right screen but it doesn't actually record! When we put a 2 hr video into the machine, the hrs and mins boxes don't change to show it is a 2 hr vid. When we hit record another box comes up to say it must be at least 1 ie not 0) but nothing we do allows us to change the hr & min box. Help!

  • This is just a follow up to my previous comment about cutting parts of original video. I spoke to a representative at the ION Company about this situation. The Rep stated that their software has a non destructive Algorithm. Essential that allows for cutting but not permanently deleting. Which also means that all recorded videos will play as originally recorded in other media. If you want permanent deleting you will need 3rd party software.

  • @airforce79 idk who would buy this pc of shit... better of geting a dvd recorder or tv tuner

  • @airforce79 Hi, I've just installed and found the same problem. This makes the package useless! I wanted to use it to record from my camcorder and then edit down before putting on club site. What it the 3rd party software that will allow me to permanently edit?

  • @SirBilham Did you figure out how to make the EZ Converter software burn the shortened version of the vid, or were you able to discover a 3rd party software program that will allow you to either capture video using the USB device, or edit, and burn to disc, the file created with the EZ Converter software?

  • I experienced the same problem with cutting and editing. Once a file has been saved the ION EZ player only played the part that was "Saved". However, any other player such as Windows Media Player, etc keeps everything original. This included size, date, you name it. Is there a permanent fix or resolution to this or am I just missing something here?

  • if you happen to download a "newer" (it was the same) version from the oficial web site, you loose all the editing that you have made to all your movies.

after cuting a video it said is 1G, but, if you close the editor the file is stil 2.5G

and if you want to stick with this player it constantly shows the lapsed time and a time-line in the midlle of the screen.

  • when I try to play the captured movies with a different player it still shows the cut-off parts

for instance Windows media player, what is going on? this movie editor makes the edited movies only worthed to see in it's own editor

  • Eric,

Would like to see how you burn video as another step given that I have watched steps 1 - 2 - 3. Call it step 4.

  • i am getting told when trying to burn that their is something wrong with the media. what should i do

  • I have, Vista, 32 bit, when I click on; Burn; I get a message; There is no media inside the recording device. Please insert media. Can you tell me what this means and am I able to fix this or should I return the product, and when I was able to copy and import it to movie maker, and then watch the DVD I created, it seems to be slightly out of sync.

  • The video that is generated gets what resolution?

  • I have no audio?

  • What is the right DVD to use.. The memorex DVD+R keeps telling me the there is no Mdeia inside the recording device when I click Burn to Disc.....

  • When I click Burn to Disc , I get a message that says "NOMEDIA IN RECORDING DEVICE"

Can any on etell me what to do...????

  • I've installed the v1.43.07.50 drivers and this does NOT work on windows 7. I get an error message when i run EZ vhs converter: "there is a problem with your sound device". Can somebody confirm that I have downloaded the correct drivers?

  • Forgot to say im using windows 7 x64

  • Once you edit a section, say 22 seconds, Do you still have the original movie? Or is one edit all that is possible. I would like to have many edits(chunks of movie) of that original movie

  • I've gotten it all to work until time to burn the disk. What type of disk do I use? I have tried the CD-R and DVD-RW and it says there is no media detected. Any suggestions??

  • Works well with Windows 7 X64 once the drivers are downloaded and installed. Thanks to Sean at support for helping.

  • Has anyone gotten this to work in Windows 7 x64?

  • No They have not updated the drivers for windows 7. DO NOT BUY any products from *ION until they do, it would be a wast of your money.

  • Wow, quick reply!

Thanks Tony, I appreciate the info.

Curious though, what is the file size like for an average length film in DivX (.avi) format?

I may just install XP on one of my machines to do transfers. But only if the quiality and file size of rips is worth it. Otherwise I'm going to look for a different product.

  • I cannot tell you, I have not ben able to make this machine work at all. A very big disapointment. I would not purchase any products from *ION. Look elseware.

  • Cool, thanks.

I'm actually looking at the EasyCap right now. I just got one on e-bay for $1 (+6 S+H). I Hope it works out!

  • Please tell me how that works!

    Tony

  • Will do! And if you find something that works well for VHS conversion, please let me know too.

I've been watching some videos on youtube for the EasyCap. Many people seem to be having a lot of success with it. I just hope the quality and filesize is good, and that it is easy to do the conversions. I have way too many old VHS tapes to convert, for it to be a pain.

I think I have 12-13 boxes of tapes with 26-30 tapes per box, and some tapes have 3-4 movies on each. Fun Stuff Eh? *sarcasm*

  • I got it to work on Windows 7 - download latest drivers and software from ION web site

  • Yes - works for me in Windows 7 x64 - just make sure to download the latest drivers and software from the ION web site

  • Did you use the Vista x64 drivers? Because they don't have any W7 drivers on their site.

  • Yes Vista x64 drivers

  • Thanks for the info jfolk!

  • Exactly which MPEG format does the ION produce. If burned to a DVD, can it also be played on any free-standing player to television (USA).???

  • @fungusamungus399 The VCR2PC calls it a "movie clip". It will not play on Windows Media Player or Windows Movie Maker - XP.

  • How's the quality and file size when you make a divx (.avi) conversion.

  • that's not accurate - it's a .mpg file that plays in Windows Media Player just fine for me.

  • I have never been able to make this equipment work. I installed windows7 to try that and this ion product is not supported. I would like to have this problem fixed or have my money returned.

  • Did you ever get it to work with W7?

I want to get one, but I'm running W& X64.

  • I downloaded a video to dvd and the dubbing is off slightly. Do you have suggestions how I would fix this in the future?

  • I just purchased the equipment and was able to successfully transfer a 6 minute video to my computer. But when I try to burn to disk I'm getting "Invalid Media - Please check the Media" Whattype of disk should I be using?...I've got CD-R's.

This video was great getting me off the ground.

  • I have old VHS tapes from africa (PAL ) will it work with any vcr2pc conveter?

    thanks

  • There are standing:

The device is not available, or is being used by another application.

Please close any applications that may be using the device and try again.

Do you now what they mean?

Thanks, I hope to hear from you soon.

  • I have a problem. Last week I bought it and it worked great. I've converted some video's. But now all of a sudden the video display quality is crap. Even tough the tapes are of great quality.!! Can someone help please!

  • Hi,

Can i connect a betacam player to the vcr 2 with an audio/video input in order to recuperate the beta videos ?

    Thanks for the answer.

  • I so regret buying this piece of junk. Not only did it totally screw up my computer and some of my VHS tapes. It also crashes all the time and i cannot shut it down. Not even from task manager. Plus that, they havn't ever released any updates for this thing that fixes any of these issues.

No offense to your video of course. It's very good

  • Your video is excellent.

    Thanks

  • I installed everything as per the instructions. My icon does not open any thing. I don't get the screen to enter a file name it just starts a EZ VHS Converter Monitor in my system tray????? What should I do???? 3B

  • I bought a VCR2PC last ChristmAS, AND AM delighted with it. I don't use the editing software that came with it; I tend to use Windows Movie Maker. One thing emcgregor16 did not show, it is a great piece of harware for connecting your camcorer to your pc with, as well as VHS tapes. i use mine all the time to transfer from my Sony Handycam. great product, got mine from Maplins online in the UK, I think I paid about £150 for it, well worth the money. and so so simple to use.

  • this software is not good. cant really do anything but record from the vcr2pc.

    the editing part is bad.

  • Wow that sure made it simple. I have had a VCRTOPC for about 6 months and it is great, especially now since I have viewed this video. Very helpful and informative.

  • Hi,

Thanks for the video. I just picked up an open box PC 2 VCR from Circuit City. Unfortunately it did not come with the software and I have no way of using it. I know this sound a little weird, but would you be willing to make me a copy of the cd? I''ve searched everywhere but haven't been able to find a copy of it. I'd be willing to pay for the cd, shipping, etc. Thanks in advance and I hope to hear from you soon. Thanks,
