@JazzMaestra you said it. This jam is so funky that although not uncommon for Mr. Brown to be heard in the background of most of his people's recordings, you can actually hear that Mr. Brown the funkiest man ever to grace this planet is REALLY feeling it. And not only is Mr. Brown so on the "one" when he is performing and recording, this man seems to make sighs and other distinct onomatopoeias sound so on beat. As if on purpose. Just oozed funkiness...
insane that this is where those sample clips came from. I was into hip hop and all sorts of dance going back to '88. Now only just putting the pieces of the puzzle together. Lovin' it. Insane.
the 3 samples at 1.23, 1.35 and 2.03 must in total make this tune be one of the most sampled ever by house, hardcore, jungle, hiphop etc not far behind 'Amen' and 'Funky Drummer'
@krazyjuicedan Quite debatable, though that is right up there since every last D&B song samples the bridge of that track. But I swear I hear the AW, YEAH sample in so many different songs!
beat is sampled in loads of tunes, including rob e baas and ez rock- it takes two. its an amazing breakbeat used in loads of hip hop, and jungle/dnb tracks.
This song changed the way that women think and that's why women are so independent today. Because she told the truth how men treated women back in the day. So men THINK!!!!! why are women so headstrong? Men took women for granted so they had to lay the cards on the table and stand up for themselves.
@Roshellism You know thats right! She was the first female feminist as far as I am concerned! She told the guys to act right or else! She was not having it or putting up with their BS! She was not begging no guy to do nothing for her! SHe demanded respect and got it! I miss her so much! I saw her perform at the Apollo Theater in NYC in Harlem back in the day with James Brown! She was the bomb! Thank you Lyn for making my teenage years so wonderful!
@Cabronblanco yeah they did, listen to the basic melody of this song, from 1:20- 1:30 is the obvious hook that was also sampled by Rob Base and Dj EZ rock
It waaaaaas James Brown's song (LOL). You know how it worked back in the day. The MALE producer introduced the FEMALE singer; took credit for production; and then maybe the female singer got a chance to sing on her own.
