  • Yeah agree with bubblehead, each to their own with on the beach! Personally, I was turned off as soon as Linkin Park came on XD Each to their own! Better than I could of/could be bothered to do so respect due my friend, respect due

  • Very apt NOW, in light of Fukushima.

  • Actually, I think the Whitman works quite well in connection with Shute's novel, which I've read several times. The Eliot has been quoted so often that it's almost become a cliche.

  • Yeah, sorry Dude. You've lost me too. Problem with this is the book's struck accord with so many people, that pretty much whatever anybody puts up is gonna be picked apart. You've got to be really careful with 'on The Beach'. It truley has a cult following.Nice video though.

  • You would have been better served to cite an excerpt of T.S. Eliot's "The Hollow Men", which is more closely related to Shute's "On The Beach" than Whitman's "On the Beach at Night".

What exactly is the connection between Whitman's poem and Shute's book? I'm lost!
