@Shankb777 I agree i am a visual person and seeing is understanding.. The camera operator needs to get clearer close up shots of the work.. I would also like to see more on working clockwise & counter clockwise?? I always thought that if you traced or marked your design/pattern correctly and made your cuts on those marks you were good??
To demonstrate the clockwise/counter/clockwise carving: draw 2 identical circles, carve one clockwise and the other counter clockwise then set the template you used to trace them on the leather over these cut designs and see if one if not smaller or larger than the other. The reason for this is that a right handed person carving clockwise will be slightly off center to the right of the traced line & a right handed person carving counter clockwise will be offset to the inside of the line.
@Shankb777 This video was done, not as a tutorial but a demo being done for The Leathercraft Guild during a meeting at Standing Bear's Trading Post. therefore camera angle etc. are not great for instructional purposes. My apologies to those watching it in this regard. Hopefully some of the verbal conversation discussed will assist you some.
Great advice. Really glad I saw this before getting into meanders. Probably saved me lots of cussing.
