  • Now My life is worth to be Indian.

  • A SOFT TOUCH OF HIS FINGERS ,WHAT A MELODIOUS RAAGA GARA

  • And they say God listens to Latin. Ha!

  • I feel blessed to listen to this. Thanks.

  • The world loses when such music is not shared. Wonderful.

  • Phenomenal performance.

  • no instruments apart from those that come from india allow one to express ones spirit so powerfully...they are the most intelligent instruments...

  • @rendlesham .......................But a great electric blues guitar can stop time as well. The great Roy Buchanan for instance. Many Blues scholars were also enthusiasts of Indian Music, Davy Graham and The Blind Owl, Al Wilson who played on The Saraswati Vina as far back as 1962. Nikhilda is truly timeless and unsurpassed. What of the great 8 string sitar debate btw? How long did Panditji utilize his extra ga string to get both features of Kharaj Pancham and Ghandar Pancham styles?

  • Genius. Only once in a century does a player of this quality, sensitivity and control appear.

  • Unbelievable and truly deserving of the legendary status. Nikhilji was the greatest.

  • Magical

  • splendid

  • Superb !!!!!!

  • one of the trinities of Sitar of that generation...completely immersed in the Raag...

  • Keya batt, awesome, beautiful!! Wah!! :D

  • Ah, such sweet, scintillating synergy.....

  • Absolutely awsme gives divine eternal peace ...

  • this is Pancham se Gara if I'm not wrong...it's absolutely beautiful!

  • You are right, this is not Gaara. Ravi Shankar played the same in Monterey.

  • I LOVE THIS omg i have listened it to like over 20 times now

  • devine.... probably one of the most fullfilling peice of music that I ever heard.

  • I know very little about classical Indian music, but that was awesome! Could someone kindly explain the basics about this music, not the spiritually significant stuff thanks, just the basic theories? thank You

  • Well this music isn't really religiously oriented in the modern sense, although it did have it's beginnings in Vedic religion. Two basic parts to this music: Raga: elaborate system of "scales" more complicated than a mode, less elaborate than a song which are to be improvised upon and played in specific gats, or compositions. Improv is the heart of the music though. Tala: Rhythm dealing with beat cycles from between 3-108 cycles. This also has a time for improv and composition. PM me for more!

  • @lumpymetal In a broader sense that would not be possible. At least not for true Indian Classical Music.

  • ihihihi...si un pò più abbronzato XD

  • NB is a common name in the world of ICM today, and many call him a genius, but sitar players forget why he was a genius. They copy is technique and tone (purbayan chatterjee) and forget the quest for self realization through music that NB was all about. Loosing yourself in the Raga and playing innermost. There is generally a huge gap between the era of NB, Vilayat Khan, Bismillah Khan, Hariprasad, Ali Akbar, ect.

  • Absolutely beautiful, thank you!

  • Have I died and gone to heaven? This is not just enrapturing music by two of the finest artists produced by India's classical tradition; it is an offering from deep inside their souls to Goddess Saraswati whether they said so or not. The mutual rapport between the two maestros is simply not possible without that shared bond of devotion: It is as if the two have become one! Thanks, cenkjeekhan.

  • Absolutely Brilliant!

  • Wonderful. One of the faster tempo ragas from the beginning. Agree, Anindo is marvelous on tabla. We are blessed that Nikhil's spirit can still be with us through his music. Darsham.

  • @PrismRisen I agree! If there is one piece of techknowlegy I find good for all humanity, it is recording. May these artist live on forever!

  • Anindo really makes that tabla sing

and of course Nikhil is incredible

  • Nikhil Banerjee's music has depth and spiritual quality that sets it in a class of it's own.

Ravi's Jogeshwari comes close to this.

Peace be on Nikhil Banerjee (R.I.P)

  • MAGNIFICENT!!!!

  • MAGNIFICINT!!!

  • SUBLIME,SUPREME!!!!!

  • Nikhil Banerjee. He was, is, and will be the number One sitarist in the Universe. Thanks God for giving the pleasure to heard him.

  • Two great maestros...Pundit Anindo is one of the best Tabla players

  • Pnadit nikhil ji absolutely fablous ..........when ever i listen to him , forget this material world and reached to another world thats peace.Behalf of all fanes , slute to him .

  • thats magical music, the true music for me. wah wah. indian classical music 4 ever!

  • truly an ustad

  • Only Ravi Shankars Jogeswari comes close to Nikhil Banerjee sitar music. Best sitar player I have heard. Please support his work!

  • Meck, with all due respect Ravi is no where near Nikil Benerjee. Ravi has been given way too much respect than his music actually deserves.

  • Ah Nikhil Da

You are the greatest. I have listened to sitarists for the past 25 years and my heart gives you the number 1 rating.

You are alive within the world of sitar lovers all over.

    With love

    shuddha of dadashri

  • Is this Gara for sure? Notes are so similar to that of Manamanjari!!

  • i'm pretty sure it is...the announcer of the show says so ( you can see it on google video in some other clips)

manomanjari sounds a bit more evil than this..

  • Is is raga Gara for sure? Notes are so similar to Manamanjari!

  • Pandit Nikhil Ji was a genius, born 1 in millions......lived shortly but enthralled everybody. He was divine in human form

  • Banerjee es el mejor!

  • its divine because he played not for the audience but for God

  • Yes I think too that's right. Its a different kind of attitude than most players have now.

  • NikhilDa is absolutely heart touching and an unending source of inspiration for all rasikas and especially for sitar shikshas!

Thank you so much and namaskar

    Guido

  • To us, Nikhilji's music is almost incomprehensibly divine, but I wonder how he experienced it, with more or less power than his listeners?
