  • Very cool video.

    So jealous.

    I like to shoot.

  • @adgjmptw1941 SHHHhhh! Don't spread this around, but this is one of my favorite handguns!

  • is the barrel stationary?

  • @napalm350z Yes, the action is pure blowback and the barrel remains stationary.

  • @onmilo that's pretty neat. I guess it could potentially be pretty accurate, then.

  • Sad history about that pistol, widely used during our civil war 1936-39

  • @newhuskytwenty Weird as they look, this is a very nice and well made pistol.

Recoil is a bit harsh, it actually kicks harder than my 1911 .45 acp, but it is very accurate and very reliable.

This gun has not ever jammed on me, not even once, even when using my rather moderate handloads.

    It's a keeper!:-).

  • @onmilo It's the only high caliber gun in the world without bolted.

    I'm a happy owner

  • @cineaccion3 Walther and I believe Sauer made blowback 9mm pistols during world war two but they never went past the prototype stage.

There was a "Volkssturm" pistol that was made I believe by Mauser that used a blowback action made in very limited numbers.

The Astra 400 was the only Military issue full power blowback action pistol issed in great numbers. :-)

  • @newhuskytwenty Why sad history ? Slorious history ! That pistol beat Stalin during our civil war 36-39

  • @cineaccion3 It didnt beat Stalin. It just got a lot of Spanish people killing Spanigh people. The Spanish civil war was a black mark on a lazy apathetic Europe. England especially needs to take responsibility for allowing this needless waste of human life. Hopefully with a European union we will never see a war like this used to experiment on civilians again.

Germany has never faced true justice for the crimes against humanity it perpetrated in Guernika. ETA should bomb Germany.

  • I own one of these here in Spain (were theyr were "born"...lol). Those are very well built, strong and reliable pistols. Accuracy is very good when the bore is not worn. 9mm largo original ammo becomes hard to find, but boxer brass cases to reload are available from starline. Congartulations for the vid.

  • @pacsu31 I think Spain must have shipped all the surplus Largo ammunition to the states as there is still a huge supply here.

If you have a commercial Model 400 marked 9mm/.38 on the chamber, you can also use .38 Super cases loaded to 9mm Parabellum standards, this is what I do for mine. HTH

  • I've got two 400s and one 300 in 7.65.

I like 9mm largo so much that not only do I reload it, but I'm rechambering a Tokarev to fire it.

    Nice vid

  • @tafino I reload for mine also, I use .38 Super cases, 130&124 fmj bullets and Winchester 231 powder. I have tried reloading the Santa Barbara 9mm Largo berdan cases but it ended up being more trouble than it was worth.

    Thanks for watching.

  • I just fired my Astra 400 for the first time (100 rounds) it had been put away for twenty years. Other than a strong recoil spring I found it to be comfortable and accurate. Going to buy some more ammo.

  • I always liked the lines of the "tubular" Astra pistols, would like to add one to the collection someday.

  • @314299 It is a really decent handgun. Made me rethink my views on Spanish pistols for the better!

  • @onmilo How do you find it for accuracy?

  • @314299 Accuracy is more than acceptable.

  • @onmilo I had heard that they were pretty good in that respect, which I suppose would be expected from a pistol with a barrel which is pretty much fixed.
