  • They Better not build more fucking flats and offices need those like a bullet in my head!!!! and I live In Leicest but did go to the odeon when it was in business as a Cinema

  • I am too young to remember the swan arcade or the old Kirkgate market. From the pictures I see on the internet, what was done to them was a crimilnal act. We already have lost them. We all have to make sure as bradfordians that we do not lose this art dec gem for good. I know Yorkshire backward tried to flood damage the building by breaking water pipes but I am sure the building is still structurally sound and we must restore it.

  • Imagine if someone tried to pull down a posh Georgian or VIctorian theatre nowadays, imagine the outcry- yet they pull down beautiful cinemas around the country weekly. The cinemas of the first half of the 20th. century brought the world's best entertainment to all, rich and poor- unfortunately they are so often overlooked as for some unbeknown reason they are not deemed historically important (or not profitable enough). Keep up the good work- if you get it reopened I'll see you on opening night

  • nah mate its not worth saving i was part of a time doing an asbestos survey in 2008 and it was in a really bad state full of toxic mould thanks to the pikeys who stole the pipes, also it contains alot of asbestos. yes the videos shows nices ceilings, but 90% of the building is beyond repair

  • For god sakes please knock this hideous building down. People wake up and move on, times have changed. Can't stand the sight of this, people who come from out of town think what the hell. Not a good impression of Bradford is it? Right in the city centre we have a disgusting old cinema which is infested by rats. This city needs Jobs. Jurys Inn and P. Financial looks so cool!

  • No way in hell should this be knocked down with some tender loving care it could be lovely again

    its all about flaming money

If I was in charge instead of a heartless twit running the rules,

I would have this place saved Leeds has lost its Odeon and it had such history.

  • I couldn't believe that councillors had voted to knock down this landmark building - they were called into a private session by a council solicitor and were persuaded to vote for demolition.

  • I can see theres loads left of this once great building.Ive just completed a job at the Cineworld/Forum Fulham road london and that place is grade 2 listed and apart from the frontage,i couldnt see anything inside worth bothering with!!ScottBarden-youre right!!

  • If this was an Art Deco building in London, for example, it would be given grade II Listed status. I think the present building would, if preserved and fully functioning as a concert hall, cinema etc would help to save bradford.

  • As a bradfordian I am gobsmacked that yorkshire forward and mrs muad have told us blantant lies that there was no historical merit to the building and also the issue of decay and asbestos.

I demand that yorkshire forward save this building and hope that Bradford does not lose another historic building to add to the swan arcade, exchange station etc

  • Isn't it beautiful... ? How could anyone want to destroy this stuff without first at least looking into salvaging or restoring?

Bradford doesn't want yet another hideous hotel no-one cares about (anyone who's seen the concepts for what they wanted to build on the site can agree, it's horrific!), Bradford doesn't want more restaurants and cafes in purpose built soulless premises, Bradford wants the New Victoria. When will Yorkshire Forward actually sit up and listen to that.

  • Thanks for this video- it comfirms my belief that the Odeon should stay.

  • BORG have been reminding everyone concerned that these original features have survived for the best part of five years now...

The building is now supposedly secure - including the "open door" in my other film - and the only persons able to gain entry inside are parties invited by Yorkshire Forward.

All of these original features were in fine condition when I last went in (March 2008) and the on-site security arrived two days later, so if they have since been damaged we know who to blame!
