i just wanna know... why does a guy who seems to be busy with music a LOT, only have 240p movies? doesnt seem logical cause somehow if you get 720p it also sounds more clear...
@MrHmm500 also bro, this vid is quite old, for the time this is like average quality, and anyways, is it reeaaalllyy a problem though? its just a little bit of quality
When I mix drum and bass, when I'm preparing the mix, I prefer to cue up at the start of a bar, loop it, and keep cueing back to the start of the loops when I go to far out of time. Whilst I'm doing that I adjust the BPM untill it sits, so basically, I beat match drum and bass to the on beat kick, and ignore the staggered kick. I'm self taught except for a scarce few tips from mates, so is there any reason to use the snare over beat matching to the bar, or does it just come down to personal pref
@DnBNemo I'm not an expert DJ or anything but as long as mix sounds fine, I can't see any possible reason you would need to learn anything different. It's just easy to use the snares, cause they stand out more and aren't usually very syncopated.
@legaliseme thats how i mix on vinyl, i just get it roughly in by ear then pull it back, and go again untill it sits. I have trouble hearing/paying attention to the snare, but that might mean I could do with some headphones that have less bass and a bit more of a boost in the mid range?
Fugees or Not was by Zinc but the original white label did not state this for copyright reasons. Zinc has since said that Hype helped program the bassline in the studio so you are all correct!!!! From memory only 500 were originally pressed (ignoring the repress) and it was difficult to get hold of this tune at the time unless you lived in tha city!
True 'dubplates' were acetate and only lasted 50 plays! They were used to gauge crowd reaction prior to producing a final mixdown.
@corbinseymour1 No it's not!!!!! that dude on youtube said it was dj hype but actualy it was from dj zinc! Do some research first! On dj zinc's website you can find this: He went on to produce some of the scene’s biggest anthems, most notably ‘Super Sharp Shooter’ and the remix of the Fugees’ ‘Ready Or Not’ – both of which still devastate dancefloors to this day!
I know this sounds rediculous, but my problem is not beat-mtaching once there in time, but im shit at knowing wat two speeds to have them at, most of my time mixing is spent trying to get the two to even go together, ideas????
yeah its important to use the right term on the individual instruments, what he is meaning is the snare, the beat of dnb goes: kick snare, kick snare, and hihats go all the time, this is ofcourse a basic explanation of the dnb style. and the snare should match when beatmixing 2 track or it will only be a mess :P but nice video anyway :)
@RaynaDJ :) tbh i listen to one track to beatmatch then listen to both tracks during the mix no matter what channel is playing..i duno why.....and also a great tip is that the 2nd beat of a bar of dnb is the best beat to listen for while beatmatching..
@RaynaDJ yeah innit...i still find genres like dubstep 10 times easier than dnb..cos with dubstep you usually have a nice beat on the 1st and 3rd beat of a bar... :)
i think its much easier to find the snare in each track, cos its regular in every style of music you mention. hi hats are all over the place, like the kick drums. x
sycing the tempo of the other LP.. By shifting the pitch- up and down you can match tempo buddy.. Pitch up makes it go faster - pitch down goes slower..
yes you got it mate ..but the hihat version is difficult imo ..almost every dnb track has a kick on the 1 a snare on the 2 the next kick is on 3,5 and the 2nd snare on the 4 ..with that knowledge dnb is almost like house to me ;)
nice tutorial but the best way to learn is just by yourself. its important to develop your own technique and approach to mixing. might seem impossible at first and be stressful but, like learning to drive, its hard but anyone can do it
when he says he's listening to the hi hat does he mean the snare? It's just that everytime he moves his hand/nods his head to show the beat he's listening to it seems to be on beats 2 and 4 which are surely dominated by the snare. Great tutorial anyway though, they're all great
keep in mind that there are some tunes that have the 2nd snare placed 2/16 earlier than the usual tunes. most stuff from dom & roland for example are like that. but you still mix them using the first snare on the meter as a guide.
yes mix on the snare..it's just that the hat and snare hit simultaneously at times. i think that is where it can be confusing, but USE YOUR EAR and you will hear the very distinct HIT to mix on
i was just thinking, its the snare he is queing on, the hi hat is all over the place, i usually mix by the snare and many other people, GREAT MIX BTW!!
Your not the best mixer in the world? ive heard some of your other mixers and they arnt amazin but they are quality - but that was an amazin mix by my opinion give yourself a pat on the back
hi! i definately like THIS SOUND !!! i play funky drums but i dont mix drum n base (but i love to hear it..) specially the snare drum and the deep base of the fugees mix are great.. could you suggest some stuff with this sound?? or maybe some things you have mixed or you like to listen to... i ask you because i think we have common flavor of sound.. greetings Tom

this is great
im having my first dj set soon and i will be playing dnb and dubstep
altough im very nervous about it
because i dont have any wquipment home accept the laptop and ultramixer 3
on the night of the mixing i they will give me the headphones and mixer
i will try to follow these stept with hi hats
but that ultramixer doesent have that tap button like on the turntables so im guessing it will be a hard work
