they do sound flat here - there was a lot of tension going on around this time. saying that though, I reckon the pixies style is laid back anyway. of all the bands i've been into, these guys are really normal. there is no pretension. Black Francis has never tried to be a rock star and neither has Kim. they are just themselves. that's why I love them and they are my favourite band!

it's the perfect way to end the album. doolittle feels like the gate from punk rock to grunge and this song seems to prelude the entire grunge movement. the pixies were so good some of their awesomeness didn't even exist yet.

I can see how this band heavily influenced Kurt Cobain's writing and Nirvana. The slower/softer verse leading to a climaxing loud chorus. Smells Like Teen Spirit is a perfect example.

@SamOG15 You know that is something I've never thought of. Some bands have big stage presence and mediocre music that fires up the crowd. Many of the Pixies tunes made you want to kick ass but they were collectively one of the calmest bands on stage that played this side of zeppelin. I've been lucky enough to see them live a couple of times and this video is about as "fired up" as I've ever seen Joe.
