  • Hey man, great playing !!! You really made me want a ribboncontroller BAAAAAAAAAAAAAD :)

Do you have centerpitch in the middle of the ribbon?

    Like a pitchwheel?

How does the ribbon feel compared on the KX-5 compared to other ones...I guess the keyboard is not that great ?!?!

    Thanks for posting this

  • Thanks very much. I have not used many ribbons... this one here... the KX5 , the Roland remote thingy- I really did not like that one... and the vintage when new PolyMoog. I Like the KX5 ribbon feel and yes it has center pitch. The keys feel ok but are weak and I tend to break them often.

  • yup> i dig this much more than Ayn Rand, definitely!

  • Stole the show! Cool

  • WOW! that synth sounds incredible! what synth engine are you using? and the keytar.... looks familiar, but are all the keys black?? great performance! :)

  • Hi and thanks very much.

I use any number of synths to get the basic sound. Here I am using an old Proteus by Emu. The patch is a very simple one. I am using an harmonic of a bass gtr sample. The 'trick' is that it goes through old school gear. The synth goes out to an MXR fuzz to a Morley volume/wha and then to an echo box and all that goes to a vintage fender tube amp on11. The controller is a 1980's Yamaha that I painted black.

  • That's great... I used to get a similar sound by running a low freq bassy patch on a Roland Juno through an old Marshall stack... although in by case it was more like the sound on Byrne/Eno's Regiment... The pitch wheel is nice but I like the pitch mod setup you used even better I think... more natural than smacking the wham bar around.

  • Sonds good. Yeah I love the ribbon ever since I used the polymoog in the 70's. I have a dream of having the guts of this one I am using put into a nice body with a wood neck and stronger keys. To it I would add a second larger ribbon. I priced it out wonce with a good gtr maker and it was much more expensive than I thought it would be and I thought it would be pretty expensive. ONE DAY!

  • You what I mean? The FEEL of the instrument is very important and often we keyboard types get stuck sticking our fingers in bits of plastic.

  • What is the synth you are using? I have seen Eno holding the same one during the Roxy Music days... is this the one he used to get the Sky Saw effect as well?

  • Very cool! Thanks for sending. -Alfred

  • Thanks Alfred

    More to come.

    Cheers

  • You sounds better than Jan Hammers "Guitar". Maybe you are the unknown son of Jimmy Hendrix? *lol*

  • If everyone felt that way i would be very pleased indeed. Thanks so much. I will be adding some ProTools Recording and Synthesizer tutorials soon.

    Thanks again Han10!

  • But tell me, what this video is doing in dnb group? :P

  • Drum and Bass... well as a synth guy I kinda lump it all together. I did not mean to offend. It's only rock'n'roll.

  • What amp are you using?

  • 1960's Fender Twin
