  • Thanks for the video. Viva paper towels are not available in my area. Can I use parchment paper or wax paper for the smoothing process?

  • @lulusma530 Yes, they're just not as flexible as Viva around corners, etc.

  • Thanks for sharing. :D

  • This video helped me so much for my Wilton Course 1 final project! I'm going to keep practicing this until I get it completely; I'm about 65% there. It's really easy to follow. I also skipped the crumb coating and I managed to avoid crumbs. Thanks so much for posting this.

  • Hi! I was wondering if you have any idea about where to store fondant. I like in an area where the temp is normally 32degrees and thats why i keep my fondant in the fridge where it gets a lot of moisture.. please give me some tips on where to store it.

  • @Vix101100 It is OK to store fondant in the fridge as long as you let it come to room temp in the package before using it. That way the condensation forms on the bag or bucket and does not soften the fondant.

  • Thank you so much! I love watching your videos!

  • @77missjackson Glad you enjoy the videos. We plan to make several more.

  • Where can I buy high ratio shortning?

  • @77missjackson We have it on our web site in 3 lb. tubs or 50 lb. cubes. Restaurant/bakery suppliers also carry it in 50 lb. cubes.

  • Thank you very much very helpful.

  • Are those buttercream icing????

  • @blackuredtube Yes, they are buttercream.

  • @CakeSuppliesPlus Thank you for replying. I figured that out while watched along with the video. Haha. Commented too hurry. By the way, I visited your website to find the written recipe on how to make buttercream but i couldn't find them. There is only youtube video. Is there any written recipe can be found?

  • @blackuredtube Go to our web site and then click on the link (left column farther down the page)--Cake Tutorials/Recipes - Free.

Also, be sure to watch my video on "Buttercream Icing - Winbeckler Recipe - Creamy Smooth." Just search for those words.

  • Viva is smooth on both sides.

  • All paper towels that I find have a pattern or bumps on them. Which brand are you using?

  • @MicahsMommi its the Viva paper towels, the ones that are plain white

  • I'm Gonna Try To Do This.Well Attempt To.

  • The size in the video is 8".

  • hello just want to know what's the size of the pan you use for the cake?

  • We sell Duff's Cake Tattoos on our web site, which are similar to the sugar sheets.

  • Go to the web page on our site mentioned in the video and copy the cake recipe. Add the last 6 ingredients of the recipe to the mix (omit first 5 ingrendients)and it will be a firm cake.

  • thank you so much for responding!!! that was quick too!!! will Betty crocker be dense enough to do 2 tiers, if not, any suggestions on making it more solid? =) i watched your video like 11 times , gonna do a practice cake this wk end since party isnt until july 30th =)

do you nknow of any stores that sell the sugar sheets , or is that a mail order only situation?

    =)

  • You should be able to use the water method to smooth the premade frosting--paper towel would not work since most premade frostings do not "crust." But since those icing are sticky, the sugar sheets should attach well.

  • can you do this with betty crocker icing...i know i know thats the punk way out but ive never made icing and i wanna do i tiered cake for my babys 1st bday... i wanna do a zebra striped white cake, with the wilton sugar sheets stick to betty icing???

  • @ POSTALIFE It's working now--just tested it.

  • @ zoenicole2000 Not frozen. You cannot use a frozen cake for the paper-towel method because the icing would get condensation on it and would not crust.

  • @CakeSuppliesPlus can u please tell me the paper towel method :)

  • @CakeSuppliesPlus can u please tell me the paper towel method :) the rest of the video doesnt work for me dn y it just freezes
