That's what I like about this series too. Some 'historical' shows are just so romanticized. Sometimes I'd like to live back then and get to wear pretty dresses. Then I remember I couldn't vote, or do things I like to do like write, or have much personal freedom. I'd probably be married at my age if I lived a hundred and fifty years ago. This show has good balance.

@mcricken its not the writer's ideas, its the people in the show. they're just being realistic. the show's obviously in support of strong women; just look at mike, and grace, and snow bird and everyone.
