  • Subliminal messaging never fails :)

  • I remember this in the 70s watching afternoon cartoons. I was only 5 so I'm just staring at it, now I'm shaking my head. I'd laugh at how "abe lincon" would say what's this I hear about u whipping slaves?" & " never mind the buts." I cracked up as a kid at that.

  • I cracked up at this, how is it racist?

  • This is kracist because bugs is brown instead of gray and is begging yosmite sam not to beat him with a whip how is that not racist???

  • I found this HILARIOUS!!! Especially since bugs comes in as Lincoln RIGHT after it and Yosemite is just like "but but but but!! (It's like he's say "I'm not a racists I swear!!" hahaha)

  • Ths isn't racist.

  • This is so fucking racist

  • Umm....did everyone forget that this show was made like...back in the old days??? Of course it's not gonna cover this up! I'm black and I LOVE this show and still do.

  • I think this is funny, and if your are offended by this, you should fucking grow some balls. Honestly, skin as thick as tracing paper...

  • This cartoon is more anti South than anti black.

  • Comment removed

  • Shut up, niggas!!!

  • This is nothing new. "Suggestive" cartoons like this ran rampant in those days. And of course ur not gonna find em in regular tv. Duh. Just Youtube search racist cartoons. Im black and I still think its funny tho.

  • That's not racist. Take a chill pill, folks.

  • CAN WE LL GET ALONG?

  • @differentandalike

    No

    :-D

  • Hey; if any of you you tubers want to contact me, look me up at my Gettysberg address.

  • man, it is an art to depict events the way it was during those days, without worrying about goddamn political correctness. this kind of racism was not meant to offend anyone, it is just satire. btw, love that joke at the end!

"look me up at my Gettysburg Address" lol, clever!

  • People are so quick to call anything "racist". Especially when it involves black people. This racist-phobia epidemic that America is having is retarded. It's like the New Black Panthers can get away with saying "they hate crackers with every iota of their being" and "wanna kill cracker's babies" while being in a public place outside with a mic and amp. YET, the smallest thing that a non-black person that does to a black person is suddenly on the news and race cards are flying out everywhere.

  • @RedCrescentDemon But "cracker" and "negro," much less "n*gg*r," are not the same. Negro is a loaded word in a way cracker can never be. And it is about history. We white people have no right to use tainted words like negros or orientals when we refer to blacks or Asians.

  • @grisflyt I will say this much. You are right in saying that the word "nigger" has a worse history and is connected to murder and downright violations of human rights, but I still cannot justify the racist-phobia going on. If we want true equality, we should stop this racist phobia from the get go, stop acting so damned sensitive, and realize that everyone should say whatever the fuck they wish they wanna say without having to have a racial agenda to it because we're all human beings.

  • I loved Bugs Bunny as a kid, I don't remember this episode.

  • His Abraham Lincoln impression was fucking hilarious!

  • They should have kept all the blackface jokes and nigger stereotypes! Thumbs up if you prefer exploitation over gayass political correctness!

  • This ain't racist, in fact it demotes racism. It actually makes fun of slavery and slave owners, rather than make fun of blacks.

  • im black and this shiii is HILARIOUSS!!! icd what anyone says

  • this isnt racist its funny as hell

  • that was racist, and non of yall thats sayin yall black is really black, real black people dont feel the need to say they're black before they approve or disapprove of something that might be racism

  • @antwan759 newsflash to the ignorant guy: there is no such thing as a "real black person" . You are either black or you are not black... There is no definition to how a "real" black person acts. Get educated. These people are just being themselves and acting HUMAN like we ALL ARE... Prejudice like this keeps stereotyping and discrimination alive.

  • Ok...I grew up with this stuff. this is funny!!!

  • I'm black and this was hilarious

  • im black, and i find this pretty fricken hilarious

  • immean racist? (sry)

  • how is this gay??

  • THATS FUCKED UP

  • LMFAO...pure comedic gold

  • lmao

  • I actually didn't find this racist, more like comedic satire... but this is just my opinion.

  • What make racism here to stay? This is a cartoon from the 60s probably when segregation was still around. The only people making this about race is you. Idiot.

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Nothing racist there. Pure comedy. What's portrayed in comedic form is history, which SHOULD be remembered. But the stupid effing P-C police wouldn't want that. Someone might actually learn something. Slaves were beaten and whipped in the south, and the poor are often treated like sh*t by the rich.

  • Somehow from when Sam first appeared in the episode/film I get the feeling Sam was played for a FOOL by some rotten racist people!

  • you gotta remember when this cartoons were made, Im 29y/o black male, and I study history, this cartoons were made during the 30's 40's 50's and 60's back when it was jom crow laws and this kinda media was the norm, not in to 2000's is taboo cuz we ar aware of the racist over tones

  • This is racist

  • Dam i remember this when i was a kid

  • racist? lol yea right

  • it was based on history. actually, it's not racist, it's not even offensive, because it doesnt stereotype blacks, it makes them out to be the victim of confederate dicks. they were slaves and some behaved this way during the civil war and afterwards. Not every black person was Obama.

  • Hold on a second while I pick up my lower jaw.

  • Yes this is very insensitive, but there was a time when people weren't so overly sensitive. Sterotypes (of all kinds) used to be considered fair game. Ever seen Hee Haw or the dukes of Hazzard in which country people were represented in VERY unflattering ways?

If you think about it, little has changed. Comedians (of all races) make jokes about stereotypes in their own race and others. ......and we still have Larry the cable guy too!

  • This is, like, painfully racist. Wow. I can't believe this was even legal to air. Ahhh, old times.

  • I laughed so hard

  • wow!

  • Comment removed

  • It's funny how Bugs Bunny keeps turning black; he's a rabbit, not a human!

  • absolutly love this

  • People really need to learn the definition of "racist". This is insensitive by today's standards, but not racist.

  • @Kagemusha08 Agree.

  • @Kagemusha08 its racist because he was a slave and people got kiled back then for no reson and do you see a a white slave? NO. since im black and my ancisters had to die because back then white people made us slaves, then whiped us, and killed us. Bugs dressed up as a black slave and its offensive because inicend people died for us to live in this world like normal people and they brught bck that ad, sad memery.if your a slave this would be ofensive to you too.

  • Well what do you expect?? This cartoon was made decades ago! And im sorry to say but thats how it was back then! Not just for blacks, for pretty much every minority. They were all steryotyped and made fun of. But calm the fuck down its not like they have a bunch of people in sheets screaming "Fuck you niggers" so calm the hell down!

  • nothing racists about this cartoon. they did whip slaves back in the slave days.

  • Lol @ his facial expression on 0:39.

  • Is it so bad a cartoon is exposing the truth.

Im white, but lets face it; Schools sugarcoat everything.

From black slavery to the foundation of the country torturing, burning, murdering, and raping native americans.

Sure they'll give the insight; but at the least this cartoon had the balls to to scope in on actuality.

  • Racist Much?!?!?!

  • DON't Beat master Please dont beat me maste that not offensive at all?

  • It looks to me like Bugs Bunny was mocking Southerners, more than anything.

  • I don't find this very racist...

  • I love the video description. This was made like 50 years ago! Of course racism is never going away, but to insinuate that this cartoon was made in recent years makes you look about as intelligent as the guy who thinks Mel Blanc was a black man!

  • its funnnier then shit, too bad this was never shown on tv in the last decade

  • LOLOLOLOLOLOL , the average youtube user is such a moron

  • You mean to say a cartoon written in a different era had racially based jokes? And that these same joke are no longer aired today because some people might find them offensive? You find this shocking or surprising? Anyone that takes offense to a cartoon needs to grow a thicker skin, what offends me is that the originals are not aired as a form of "protection" as if the general population is to stupid to understand the context of the material. As if a cartoon can actually hurt someone's feelings.

  • also how can you list barack obama as a tag, wat the fucks wrong wit u

  • bid fuckin deal ive been watchin bugs bunny since i was two and im friends with lots of black people who also watch bugs, we have a racist old man a block away from us

  • like i thought ppl were stupid but if u guys think mel blanc is black u need to get smacked!

  • i thoughtg this was quite funny actualy

  • WTf am i high??

  • Mel was Jewish. Shalom.

  • I still don't find it racist, just because it was a part of history that dealt with racial issues doesn't mean they aired to be racist. Like, what if Robin Hood had a black man in it originally, would people find the Daffy Duck episode racist?

  • @Loto346

Check your facts, Blanc isn't black.

  • I wish we could see the rest of the cartoon because I think it is teaching the history of the Civil War. The "don't beat me" part was probably unnecessary, but I have a feeling they were trying to teach kids something that may make some sense when they learn it in school..

  • The fuck is with the descriptions end?

  • They ban this but Waynes can make white chicks? Thats the real travesty here.

Cmon youtube let us edit our comments. And why is youtube not recognized by the spell correction library?

  • They ban this but Waynes can make white girls? Thats the real travesty here.

  • While I'm at it, this also proofs that censorship isn't about ''protecting the children'' but more about ''I'm butt hurt, I don't want anyone to see it because I can't handle a cartoon showing something that happened in the past even though they are showing my point of view boohoo'' *facepalm*

  • It's Bug Bunny coloring his fur brown, so yeah being a black person I suppose, that then turns into Abraham that then puts Yoshemite in his place, so wait, what was racist about this again?

Proof that people will call out anything racist (PS: Kids won't see it as a Black person getting discriminated, they see a bunny that gets hold back by Yosemite and then comes up with a trick to get past, sure it has some root in the past, but stop seeing things that aren't there...)

  • mel blanc was white

  • @roflcopter117.... tha point i was making smart ass was that the cartoon was during a time period when racism was prevalent.... and i sed 70z or "SO" which implies that I am not completely sure when this cartoon was made.... you prolly believe everything wiki says too. lma0..... now you go taka nap child.

  • hahaha that's hilarious

  • Seems to me every single race of people have seen oppression, slavery, and abuse. I wish folks would quit falling for the race baiters.

  • Lol, I laughed when he appears as lincoln,

  • think of when this cartoon was made.... not surprising. im guessing around the 70z or so and of course all the writers and everything wer white... not surprising.

  • @MrWillic2

The 70s? Seriously? Time to navigate away from Youtube and at least take a look at Wikipedia before you write more stupid shit, child.

  • Damn..

  • WASNT * comparing.

  • When i compared it to a horse, i didnt mean it like that.. It was an analogy. I was comparing them too. And when i was mentioning the other races i was just rambling on about what i was thinking. It wasnt all for you, lol :) and i get what you mean. But theres alot of pictures and videos of how they dressed. It wasnt all who got tattered clothing. And it didnt last awhile, but all slavery did too. But i see exactly what your talking about. Im also glad the jews didnt last that long.. Their sto

  • This is not racist. It it politically incorrect (in our day), but it is not racist.

  • Holy fuck that was racist!...i still lold tho

  • Comment removed

  • its a shame realy cartoon writers dont have the first amendment right any more so they can make better cartoon but do to law suits, lawyers, ect...ect..ect. Shame on all thos who wish to cencer these people do to the fact that it might be racist i understand how wrong it is to be racist. but i think today in this day and age we evolved passed it

  • Im black and I thought this was hilarious. I don't think it was that racist cause its just poking fun of how things were back then.

  • If you let a cartoon that's "supposedly racist bother you" then you have a problem. The weird thing about racism is that the people who call out racism in another person cares about what the other person thinks (they take it to heart).which absolutely makes no sense when they say we dont comply (care) for what racist people think. ex: if these so called racist jokes and ideas were ignored by the "victims" then they would never be racist or last as offensive.

  • Comment removed

  • that wasnt racist

  • Did yall know that they didnt really treat slaves THAT bad ? Its like this : if your horse is starvin to death, how is it suppose to work ? You cant get money if it doesnt work ? So they did feed them, give them food. And plus, native americans, and the irish were slaves also. Not just the africans .. Besides all that. Looney toons was funny as shiiit :) im alwayd gonna be kid by heart and watch old cartoons :)

  • @lovealexox Are you kidding? They didn't feed slaves out of love, like you said they fed them to keep 'em working. You think some bread and water made the male slaves over look the fact that there culture was stamped out, there way of life was takin from them, that there pride as Men was destroyed, that they were treated as animals? Do you think the female slaves over looked the rapes and being forced to bring kids into this world so they'll be slaves? Didn't treat slaves that bad my ass. -_-

  • @bigblackracoon Excuse me, i didnt say out of love, nowhere in that paragraph. And ofcourse they made them work. Your acting like i said that slaves didnt have it bad for them AT ALL? When i said " THAT " bad, I was mainly talking about food and clothes. & Half of what you said, goes towards Native Americans and the Irish ALSO.. NOT ONLY AFRICAN AMERICANS. So hopefully you were pointing it towards them too.

  • @bigblackracoon Also, MOST of the white folk helped out the slaves, set them free across rivers. Gave them shelter, food, clothing, BATHED them, and deffinately loved them. And being raped, and starving to death, treated as animals, IS HAPPENING NOW. Its always happened.. No matter what fucking race you are. Every White, African American, Irish, JEWS, Native American, Mexicans, Asians etc, has had it bad JUST like that. Every color has been bashed for years.

  • @bigblackracoon So, theres really no meaning into POINTING out a certain race that has went through hell. All of them have. Noone goes before anybody. Bless their heart.

  • @lovealexox Yeah your right just about every race has gone through slavery, but blacks are the last case of slavery. That's besides the point I was just a little upset when you said "They didn't treat slaves that bad", and then you went on to compare slaves to a work horse.

  • @bigblackracoon Also I was talking about every slave there ever was. At what point did I indicate I was talking about Black Slaves? I specificaly said Male and Female slaves, never metioned which race or ethnicity. They gave them just enough to survive, they didn't get a full plate of there favorite food they got scraps and leftovers, they didn't get decent clothes they got some tattered stuff, and if Most white people helped them then Slavery wouldn't have lasted no where near as long as it did

  • Granted some whites had g00d hearts back then and God bless'em cause there was no way any slaves were gonna make it without help, But the majority of whites were for slavery. And yes Those things like rape and horrible treatment still happen but it's differeny when Slavery is involed. Cause that slavery tag makes it feel like you ain't doing sh1t wrong, cause I'm supperior, my life matters more, that person is mere property, there pain and suffering is that of an insect who cares.

  • Disney was far worse! WB had their racist moments, but at least they own it and try to redeem themselves. (well only a liitle, they still had that damn frog for too long) But disney is worse, they do it then pretend it's not harmful or just not there.

  • that was so fucking funny ! i couldnt stop laughing and im not white im native american hahaha!!!!1

  • I remember hearing somewhere once " Did they really think that this sort of racism was ok back then?" And you know what... Yes, yes they did. This particular cartoon was produced in the 50s, and most cartoons like this weren't banned until around the seventies. People need to consider when these things were made, not how we think of it today. But, since my dad raised me on old cartoons like this, I find it funny as hell! haha

  • Eventually, the US will try to hide all history about slavery, if they considered this as racist..

The appeared violent cartoons, like bugs bunny, was that it was okay to be violent as cartoons no harm. But as cartoons, to make the harshness in the world kids grew up seeing, to appear little bit funny. To help ease the pains. Laughing at something entirely innocent. They wouldn't laugh at drunks fighting, but at the cartoon acting like the same drunks.

  • hhhmmm ok thats just how they made the south look when it comes to the civil war oh cant tell you the reasoning for the cesesion that came before lincoln's presidancy cant tell you that taxes and states rights were the issue long b4 lincoln made slavery an issue in the war oh no no no no that would make it seem like the united states government went thorugh a point where they lost control of something u have no idea how often i get sick of the steriotypes regarding the south

  • hell yea white pire

  • This is funny as hell.....they need to show this version more often.

  • This isn't racist. Bugs Bunny was just trying to get past Southern Yosemite Sam, and when he screwed up his cover he pretended to be President Lincoln and proceeds to own him.

Bugs: What's this I hear about you wippin' slaves.

Sam: But, but, but, but, but-but-

Bugs: Never mind the buts, here's my card. Look me up at my Gettysburg Address.

  • I know what would be REAL FUNNY...an episode where Yosemite Sam RAPES AN UNDERAGE BLACK SLAVE...not only would it be historically accurate...BUT FUNNY AS SHIT!!!!

  • repent, onedropatl, for the sins of your own horrible sense of humor. While you so freely tag this with our President's name, you miss the satire. For shame.

  • So, Mel Blanc. A black man, voiced Bugs. Don't you think he'd have objected to this if he found it offensive?

  • @Loto346 it was in the 1940s, do you think they would care if he did. he was lucky enough to have a job working for them, doubt he'd say anything and easily get fired.

  • @Loto346 it was in the 1940s, do you think they would care if he did. he was lucky enough to have a job working for them, doubt he'd say anything and easily get fired.

  • @Dudekunle

If Warner Bros. fired Mel Blanc, they'd have to hire a new voice actor for about 400-600 characters. I'm pretty sure they knew how lucky they were to have him.

  • @Loto346 He's black? I know that he's Jewish.

  • @Loto346 lol, four thumbs up means four people can't google search.

  • @Loto346 I don't think Mel Blanc is black...

  • @Loto346 Mel Blanc wasn't black you moron.

  • @Loto346 fuckin retarted?

  • @Loto346 The best part is 7 others morons (and counting) think he's black too!

  • One of the funniest scenes ever. I remember laughing to death as a kid. NOT RACIST!!

  • its racist cuz i am a black man in need of a welfare check

  • I live in Kentucky!

  • @solargesture

Wow, you have to insult people to get your point across? That's a fail if you ask me. It may have offended me because he was dressing up as someone from history. You know, the past? Why would it offend someone if bugs dressed up as a slave to reveal a moment in history when he didn't just dress up as a slave?

  • People need to calm down, it's not like they meant to hurt people's small egos about their HISTORY. What if I got mad and started ranting because bugs was pretending to be Lincoln? Wouldn't most people in this comments be like, what the fuck? Sure, there was a slave. Sure, he was trying to get away. But why aren't people getting mad about bugs pretending to be Lincoln as well? He's part of history.

  • @moongurl736 wow, you're dumb. the Lincoln disguise got him respect and the slave one almost got him whipped. big difference

  • If somebody sneezes a certain way...is that considered racist?????

  • Imm Glad that hundreds of years of repressing and beating of a race is funny i must have missed the punchline some where --__-- Ha ha--__--

  • at the start sam even goes "well its one of our BOYS" he really emphasises boy

  • if bugs bunny was dressed up normal and not brown people would think this was ok, so why does everyone think featuring a black person in something is racist. This is also history

  • ...slaves because, obviously, Yosemite shouldnt have been doing it. Thats why he said "Meet me at my "GETYSBURG ADDRESS" which everyone knows as the famous speech that supposedly began to free the slaves.....so why be mad?? This is History as a Satire.

  • I dont think its intent was racist. It was actually a clever way of explaining a moment in History. If you watched closely, the slave is from the South, when Yosemite told him to change songs, he changed to Yankee Doodle (which explains how the North was aiming to wage war on the South.) Thats why he called Bugs (the slave) a traitor. When he pleaded for him not to beat him, Bugs (being the multifaceted cartoon character he is) came back as a man representing Law. He asked Yosemite about beating

  • Its a cartoon - from yonder days - can bring up equal socalled racist stuff from years back. Stop taking it so damn serious unless its directly trying to tell lies or hurt people.

  • but when dave chapelle makes these same jokes its funny ? lmao dont target white people for doing exactly what we do were all the same :D

  • isn't this a good thing though? they're saying that slavery was bad...

  • @ybidiotic

it's good and bad the good for saying slavery is bad but when Bugs dressed up as a slave and acted like one thats the bad part

  • @ybidiotic ....YA TINK?????DAHAAAAAAA!!!!

  • whats rone with peple?!

  • its a flipping cartoon. stop over thinking and over analyzing every little thing to try and sound intellectual and political. boo f***ing hoo. racism will always be around and that is all there is to it. one race b****es and complains about the other race and vice versa. that is just how it is

  • @lukefats

    pretty much

  • That was one of my favorite episodes! ! Damn censors!!

  • Its not banned here in latin america.

  • LMFAO im mixed but that was retardedly funny as hell!!!

  • Dude if some racists cartoons are banned south park should have been banned years ago

  • I don't see how this is not offensive...If they made fun of any other races people would be offended...and if blacks found this funny we would be deemed racists...and just because SOME blacks found it funny doesn't mean all found it funny...In my opinion those who did are a little ignorant (just my personal opinion)...sometimes people need to take it for what it really is instead of deeming people who find it offensive "too sensitive" and read a book

  • @lovethattrinity

So how exactly are they making fun of black people here?

They might have mildly stereotyped here, but stereotyping and racism are two completely different things.

Go watch Boondocks. It's the most stereotyping show there is a.t.m. and it's funny as hell.

Also, it's made by a black guy.

Stereotyping and racism is not the same.

  • @WolfieboyMachi Mildy?? I am a big fan of the Boondocks and feel that on that show it makes fun of RACE and stereotype however it has some truth and makes people examine themselves and so forth. I understand this cartoon was made in the past,I'm not gonna start a riot because of it,I'm not blaming other races because of it. But the point I'm getting across is take it for what it is....it's offensive...and it does not have the same same effect the Boondocks.

  • @WolfieboyMachi and it doesn't matter if Aaron McGruder is white, black or yellow. His perspectives are clearly not biased. So I don't why his race would make a difference in what I would think about the show.

  • @lovethattrinity

    Well good thing then.

But if you are familiar with the show and you like it, I don't see why you would find this so much more offensive.

This is babys food compared to a lot of the stuff we get in The Boondocks, and I don't see any sort of biasedness or hate towards black people depicted here...

  • @WolfieboyMachi I see your point but your missing mine of course and obviously this is not as brash as the Boondocks, however, this is how they think we acted back then, simple mindless, negroes afraid of the "white man". The Boondocks is to educate, this is just pure ignorance and misconception. But if your not familiar with a black southern upbringing you couldn't possibly understand. Read a bunch of Southern White folktales...they depict the myth of the happy, mindless, and ignorant slave...

  • @lovethattrinity

Though I find it hard to belive that people could be that ignorant so far into the 1900's, I guess it was possible. And if that was the case, then I see how this can be offensive. At least to some degree.

But if viewed from a modern, not (or at least less) ignorant view, how would you feel about it then?

  • @WolfieboyMachi This is as modern as it gets. You are clearly uneducated. Please read a book.
