@beejay976 he said that when he was about to switch from juniors to men, they stopped to produce wooden racquets. So he tried a new one but after 3 weeks he came back to the wood. It must have been way before 87, he was born in March 64. He still kept them from his junior times and as he never broke one on the court, he never ran out of them :-)) Even in the last year exhibition against Edberg, Wilander, he was using a wooden one.
@beejay976 not only this. He always had back problems. Thats why he didnt practice that much (of cos he was so talented he didnt have to) - comparing to Becker - , and in the matches he didnt serve that hard, he just put the ball into play. He wanted to spare his back as much as possible to be able to play well. He was so natural, like no one else.
Edberg used original Wilson Prostaff 6.0 (85) throughout his career. He tried an Adidas racquet for a tournament or two without much success. Here his Wilson sponsorship ended sometime before and thus he is not displaying the W stencil.
Prostaff is one of the best tennis rackets ever. I am against wide body rackets since all they add is speed to the game but no strategy.

Milos used wooden racquet throughout his career, except for just 3 weeks when he tried something newer, but went back to his vintage.
