  • i love her a le seconde

  • So what's the difference between a fouette and a pirouette? And what's a passe? and what's a rond de jambe?

  • Look at Faruk at 3:50! He does two chaines, to a double pirouette to another double en l'air! If you are standing right next to him you would be injured because of all his power and strength! His epaulement is excellent and so markedly expressive! Bravo!!

  • How many wonderful things are in this world.

  • where is now Margarita Kulik?

  • ruzimatov is great, but what a poser!

  • is her leg supposed to open at the side in the fouettes? it was kind of weird

  • That style fouette is very Russian, and Vaganova oriented. In this technique girls open their legs directly to the side, rather than doing a ronde de jambe then returning to passe

  • yes, her leg is supposed to go straight to the side from the passe. i'm vaganova trained and that's how we're taught to do fouette. i know that the other methodes teach differently, but in vaganova it's always like that!

  • ahh, i see. that was ignoarant of me. i'll try not to call things weird

  • I used to have this video tape years ago-this performance was filmed outside and it must have been very cold-audience clips showed them bundled in coats, hats, scarves, etc. Rita and Faroukh were freezing their butts off!

  • they are way to dramatic it would be differant if there passion was toward thier movement not in their acting i agree with everyone below me

  • Her leg was too high for her fouettes, it would be different if her passe' was that high.

  • wow her fouettes were all over the place, she should learn not to try to keep her leg at 90 degrees when turning because it was knocking her off balance and she wasn't able to keep to stop moving. She should keep them at 30 or 60 degrees.

And she did look like a sea monster!!

  • in vaganova they teach that leg in fouettes should not lower when going to the side from passe and you have to keep it at 90 degrees(the knee mustn't move). but of course it would be easier to lower leg and it's true that she probably wouldn't travel so much. but i'm just saying that this is how it should be done properly.

  • I might be wrong, but i was taught that fouettes and rond de jambes en l'air must be at 80° Never more of that unless you can control them very well. In my opinion her traveling issue began when closing to passe teh first time with the shoulders lightly backwards.. Then she started to compensate..even so those are Fouettes russian style a bit harder than by rond the jamb.

  • I think she knows that.. but tried to go different.. But totally agree, the correct height for fouettes and rond de jambes as far as i know would be 80° high enough to look nicely, but no that hight to avoid proper placement of the hips.

  • it was great, but there are still things to work on!!

  • Heavens what a drama queen! (and I'm not referring to Margarita Kulik...)

Horrific tutu...what is she, a sea monster?!

He seems to plop/drop her from lifts, but he's definately a passionate and earnest dancer...

    what a funny video.

  • "A sea monster!" LMAO!

  • Hahaha! your comment made me giggle! :D

  • Glad it made you giggle :-) That's really something in the intense, competitive, and opinionated ballet world!

  • It was ok, the fouttes were off but at least she stuck with them instead of falling!

  • good, but hwe fouettes were a little wacky! =P

  • Kulik wasnt in the same place with her fouttes but the rest was stil lovely

  • Im not convinced by Kuliks fouettes,She was all over the place! That fourth possition at the end ,that she fell into(for dear life!)was so wide, she almost did a split!

  • Faroukh Ruzimatov is certainly virtuosic, but rather over the top with his arched back and puffed torso.

  • heehee :]

  • Comment removed

  • wow, that's really beautiful

  • amazing!

However, are you sure this was Covent Garden? It seemed to be in Moscow to me

  • oh it probably was. It's been a while since I watched the movie.

  • It looks like one of those Bolshoi-in-the-Park settings or in the Red Square.

  • It was a Red square gala, with several other fine dancers from Kirov Bolshoi Paris Opera, Julio Bocca and the like... and closin Maya with dying swan.. soon i'll upload it...the whole evening.

  • It took place in Red Square.
