2nd- I knew I was replacing the pump soon- this was just a fix until the new one came in the mail. Guess What? The new one has a SEALED housing!
3rd- I don't know what kind of squirrel hands you have, but trying to disconnect and reconnect all that with the cabinet on would have been the hard way.
dude- it's a $300 washing machine, not a ferrari.
by the time I took a day off waiting for a repairman, then paid him whatever visit, diagnose and change the pump, I'd have been better off buying new- which is what i would have done if my fix didn't work.
I didn't have one and there was laundry to be done.......then you continue on to say "let it set overnight"....I would have bought one and been washing again in a couple hours....ass

exactly.
I'm going through this same situation.
Except mine is leaking from the shaft area, internally so the epoxy fix won't work for my situation.
