Chrysler couldn't make up there mind on warranties - one year its 7/70, another it's 5/50, 3/36, what gives? Then for two decades they dropped down to 3/36..
God 80's cars were ugly!! What, did they just fire all the car designers in 1979 and start re-hiring them in the 90's!!?!..friggin shoe boxes on wheels!! It's ok if there are 1 or 2 boxy choices like the Xb, but damn! back then the market was saturated with boring boxes!
@MrMattmarshall Yeah, that sounds about right.... Took em' a few years, then good stuff started coming like new ram and viper. Viper's one of the great american cars imho. Could'nt afford to feed one, much less buy one myself. But still a really cool car.
@ButtaLove4u2008 Yes I do. If you're referring to the one with the silver stickers. That is a Shelby Dodge Charger. I don't know the year. But I own a black one 1987 limited edition.
Well on the flip side CDs were paying 15% in the early 80's. Thats where the 80's boom actually came from. Rich people put all their money in CDs and made a fortune that they then put into the stock market.
@plymouthroadrunner1 You got to remember that cars were 10-13k and houses were 50k. In the 70's it was much higher to borrow money, but savings also paid a lot more to you for interests.
I have a 87 Dodge Daytona Pacifica and an 85 Dodge Shelby Charger, both turbo. Very easy and recepitive to modifications, I think the 2.2/2.5 liters are one of the best engines ever produced
I used to design cars, did the retro stang, appypollyogies. They need to bring back the OMNI! It was the best small car ever, had 5 turbo's! Trying to land this little old lady's lebaron gts 5sp turbo 4door. Black cherry!
80's cars, that Dodges were better then. The new ones may look nice but Chrysler is on a slippery slope. The Nitro for example looks good but that's abut it. It gets bad miliage, it stalls, and the interior is as boring as ever. It's sad to see a once proud car company head downhill like this. The charger's good car though. Now good on gas, but at least it's good in quality.
Fewer bad Chrysler products back then than now. GMs back then were much better cars too. A slow, steady decline in quality got them in trouble. Even with the recent jump in quality the past few years, the foreign competition has increased to an even greater degree. My Mom, Dad, and Step-mom have all bought new GMs within the past 3yrs. Between the 3 of them, they've had 8 warranty repairs, plus recalls. Mom kept her old Volvo with 180k miles and it's only needed 1 $80 repair in the same time.
We had a '92 Plymouth Acclaim, a stretched version of the k-platform. It was a fantastic car. Unexciting maybe, but excellent transportation. We had it for 7yrs and 182k miles until it was totalled. It was really well built. No squeaks or rattles in all that time. Only cosmetic complaint was the defective paint that peeled. A very dependable car. Wish they still made them!
