Using the word "semantic" in normal conversation is not. Words are used to convey specific ideas, some do so better than others.
@HonkIfYouLoveHonking I listen to all those bands you mention, plus Dimmu Borgir, Opeth, Motorhead, etc... But, what the hell-- these guys can be metal, too. :D

It means pertaining to the realm of scholarly thought (but carries the connotation: having little/no practical application). Did you understand "trivial"? It means everything you said.
