Zhiguli Lada 2101 was copied straight from Fiat 124 but with different engine. And the engine was too powerful (about 75 hp without tuning) and too fast for the really small and thin car. A lot of fatal crashes were made with 01 in 70s and 80s in Soviet Union.
OK, 2101 really had about 65 hp at firts. But later modifications had more powerful engine. But statistics about 01 was horrible. Fo eaxample in 1970 there were about 150 traffic deaths in Estonia (about 1 million population) per year, in 1980 more than 300 were killed. In 70s Ziguli 2101 appeared...

3. You never have drove a lada.
It's harder to keep rally Lada straight than sideways. Why do people hate Ladas? Actually they are good cars.

you drove "sumara"? Ehm, Samara is FWD vehicle, Niva is AWD and 1.3 has small engine, but is no problem to drift with anything :-P

I'm sorry. There was an forced engine production which came with 1200 55kW=75HP so it was an insane ride :D
these cars mainly had to be police car in russia and export i think.
