this is awesome! just wish it was better quality. this is the barney i remember. my 2 year old really enjoyed this :) i'll be adding this to my favorites so she can watch more of it later!
@supergodzilla12 That actually got quite a bit of controversy in the early 90's. Parents complained that the pledge drive was pretty much a commercial for Barney merchandise. PBS changed their policies about pledge drives after that. Anyway, enough about the Barney doll, how much is that Barney cardboard cut-out going for? XD
@TruelySonicHOG - Ehhh... I wouldn't want that thing in my home. Fuckin' scary shit, there, man.... XD! Anyway, I heard that these were a bit controversal. How did they change the pledge drives afterwards?
@supergodzilla12 It depended on the station, but for sure, this marathon wasn't rerun after the controversy and no PBS Kids characters could encourage people to donate to their station personally (as Barney did here). Barney was one of PBS's first programs to be made by a for-profit company, so they didn't have the experience. For more info, search "Barneygate."
@ArticaSkylarKennedy Yeah. Basically, Barney was part of a competition for the most popular new PBS show in 1992 (along with Shining Time Station and Lamb Chop's Play-Along). After a very hard decision (all three shows were doing well), PBS decided not to fund new episodes of Barney & Friends. In response, the Barney Fan Club asked its members to call their PBS stations and, thanks to the outstanding response, PBS reversed their decision. Ironically, B&F is the only one still on the air.

@supergodzilla12 As for the Barney stand up, yeah, I admit he's a bit creepy, but I kinda like it.

@TruelySonicHOG You mean a Barney on platform let me say like um... a million bucks? I DON'T THINK SO.
rod1014 1 month ago
@rod1014 I think he'd actually go for maybe 50-100 bucks (it's almost life-size, after all), but I was kinda joking about getting it.

Barney was going to cancel? Thank god for those people who objected! Barney is forever for anyone who was five in the ninties!

@jeremycrispovideo I did notice that. Not to mention that the kids are shouting "The Barney Bag!" that was heard on "What's That Shadow?"
rod1014 1 month ago
@jeremycrispovideo No, it's the same one. The quality makes it seem otherwise.
TruelySonicHOG 1 month ago
@TruelySonicHOG i'm taking the part where barney hugs everyone from world a music.
jeremycrispovideo 1 month ago
@jeremycrispovideo That scene is actually one recorded solely for the intro. In later Season 1 episodes, it was rerecorded to show Tosha.

Isn't there a part 2 for this?
