We were on vacation in Maui, on our way to a dive site called Black Point which requires a long trek carrying gear to the beach and along swim to the area (thanks to resorts hogging the beach area). We had no tools with us capable of cutting a hook. I found this poor little fish about half way through the swim to the dive site. I've started carrying a metal cutting blade while diving since then just for this reason.

Why didn't you take the fish out to remove the hook?
