  • This looks great, i never knew this exsisted, keep up the good work.

  • Is that the 13th foot? I think I recognise a few faces from this year's Prestonpans reenactment.

  • Brave highlander in a wheelchair! Disrespectful civilian who crosses the street right in front of the Prince...probably had to get home to the wife and kids and couldn't wait for the procession to pass.

  • Ah, Charlie...if only you waited a few more years got some real military experience under your belt....or if only you listened to your Scottish lords....

  • In case anyone's interested, i think the battle is back on this year.

  • thanks for the info, do you know when and where (as the green is mostly paved now)

  • @comedyhunter It'll be on the first sunday in December as for where I'm not sure. I saw a couple of the lads last night but a great deal of alcohol had been consumed and no one was making much sense

  • It is on again and on the green still despite it being mostly paved as you say. Thats what I've been told by those in charge.

  • Yeah, biggest disaster in Scottish history.B.P.C was on acid

  • Never heard of this tho i used to be a JACOBITE . Biggest disaster in Scottish history culminating in the turkey shoot at Culloden ...

  • great upload! *****

  • oh the blue bonnets are over the border (8) !!

    long live the cause !

  • Basically the current Government of the UK is completely illegal, seeing as Parliament rules by the King's allowance. Seeing as we have had the wrong King/Queen for hundreds of years, that's a hell of a lot of stuff to re-do when we finally get Francis II in charge! We have to re-do American Independence, everything!

  • you realize the Hanover's were related to the Stuarts? George the first was the son of sophia who was James the First (or v)'s granedaughter. And James was cousins with Elizabeth so in fact we've had some legitmacy to the line since 1485

  • I Love the Stuarts. Although the Duke of Cumberland and his men did what they had to do.

  • They tried to create genocide after the battle, the aftermath was that bad , no battle honour was given for Culloden to any British regiment that fought at the battle

  • I didn't know there was a statue to Charlie in Derby.

No one will ever know what might have happened if his leaders had voted to carry on into London.

The main reason for the defeat was always given that the English didn't rise in strong enough numbers to fight for the Jacobite cause.

However, a lot of brave English men did, joining, not for glory of gold, but out of a belief they were joining the right side.

We Scots should not forget them either. RIP

  • If Charlie had got to London he wouldnt have gave a toss about Scotland, once he started to organise the Royal court in London,he was just another user of the Scots,He hadnt a clue what the Scots needed,he couldnt even speak the gaelic

He just Scots to fight for him.

  • @MelodeonJohn True...He was an Italian coward, not worthy of the men who followed him.

  • @SarahDFC Probably true...the Jacobite Army deserved a better commander, perhaps Lochiel or Lord George Murray. I'm sure you've seen Billy Connolly's burlesque of the Prince.

  • Brilliant!, Jaocbites - True Scotsmen

  • why are english people celebrating invading jacobite troops?

  • There was jacobite sympathysers in England

  • just braw, think i watched this about a dozen times noo.dinnae ken about royalty walking though, whit aboot a white cuddy for him heh heh.

  • greetings! charles entered derby on foot, which is why i do during the parades (i play the prince). glad you like the look of our event... its on again first weekend in December 2008!

  • Love it - great to see our history being relived especially since the national teaching had been dumbed down a lot. I would have supported the hanoverians I think as England and Scotland's religion was under attack from the Stuarts and the Pope. I love Billy connolly's description of BP Charlie though - "an effeminate, Itallian dwarf backed by hairy ars*d Higlanders on Clydesdales". brilliant parade though.

  • billy connolly is a comedian, and a very good one, unfortunately history is not his strong point, it's central belt scottish history, which happens to differ considerably from scottish history, im a Dumbartonian who now lives in Inverness and was always saddened to hear my fellow countrymen on Clydeside continually knock their own, and more often than not with just a very slight knowledge, if any, of what they were talking about.

  • THANKS it's a very good

  • Was tis really in Derby.. Englnand?

  • Cute little reenactment...let's hope it grows in numbers!

  • Great to see footage of the event - speaking as the man who plays the Prince. Don't worry Comedyhunter, the redevelopment of the Green won't end this established event: we are working on alternative plans.

  • Any idea where it will be staged this year as the Cathedral Green is NOW enclosed while the new bridge is being built?

  • Bonnie Prince Charlie this man could have stood proudly along side the Pope he cared that much about his religion. What a hero.

  • Cherlie, in my opinion, is a sorry excuse for a hero. He turned tail and left his followers to die. A culture was wiped out because of him! He might have loved his religion, but, obviously, he had no feeling for his Jacobites. His father and his father's father were not much better. Can't think of a Stuart that didn't do more harm than good!

  • Very Good! I wish i had visited in 1995 when there was supposed to be "a hundred pipers".

Do you have any footage of that?

  • Thanks, No I have only known about this even since 2001.
