I saw this movie and am still confused by it. Did Anna really see their ghosts and the others are lying or did she make them up in her mind and they really couldnt see them?

The plot wasn't weak at all, as the scenes all lead to something if you read between the lines, like most confusing thrillers...

I've just seen the 2009 version of the film "The Turn of the Screw" which was great.Another with Johdi May was done 1999 which was equally as good. "The Dark Place" is just a modern setting for the same thing,but I haven't seen it.Thomas Hardy who wrote it left the meanings to be ambiguous & for decades various opinions of whether she saw ghosts or was going crazy argued back & forth. Thomas Hardy mentioned that it was just to be a ghost story but....

I thought Sobieski was good in this. I don't think a lot of people understood that in many of the scenes she was supposed to be acting like a child in distress (like when she was crying by the lake).

well ... might look weird and personal , but i like Sobieski performance here .. in fact , i didn't know her until i see this and for the fucking sake of everything i didn't catch the point of this and not the hell i have clue of what ending does mean but i like Liliane performance here so much .. she's performance was the only thing that don't made me just say : holy crap just waste of time....

The ending wasn't that diffcult to understand... Anna (Sobieski) was sexually abused as a child and began unconsciously molesting Miles and Flora towards the end of the film. This is why Miles was so afraid of her.

@musicallytalented2 I agree. I've just watched it on DVD, which I bought for £4 from HMV today. It was, as you say, a complete waste of 90 minutes and of money. The only good part was when Tara Fitzgerald got down to some serious lesbo action with Leelee Sobieski, sucking her nipples. I got a mild boner from that, but that was it. Shitty acting (esp from Sobieski) and shitty plotline, shitty movie. Damn.

@musicallytalented2 I'd call the ending is called a "farcical anticlimax." As for Sobieski, she never could act. Her performance in "Deep Impact" was lame, in "88 Minutes" she was crap, and in this film she's just a hollow shell. I'm surprised she gets any parts at all.

I attempted to read the turn of the screw after reading this and I couldnt get past the first few pasges, it was such a strange read....

Not the best adaptation of TOTS that exists. I get that the director was trying to modernize it and everything but with TOTS you just can't do that successfully. So many things wrong with this picture..I'll review eventually when I start making my own vids.
