well rrod isnt due to over heating

the 360 gpu can take much more heat then what causes rrod infact it has a feature to show 2 red lights and then shutdown before it overheats

rrod is due to flexing of the board while the solder joints on the gpu are warm the flexing increases the stress and breaks the solder joints

so keeping it cool isnt to stop over heating of the chip its to keep it cool enuff to stop the shit design pulling the chip from the board
