@KillerBSan If you mean the stocatto (I don't know how to say it) notes, then you either lift your hand up on the fretboard right after playing the note, or when walking, you immediately mute the string with your second finger. Hope this helps!

@KillerBSan If you play with your fingers, just mute the string with one of the plucking fingers right after you play a note. Try putting a metronome at like 60bpm and do it once per beat, it's not hard to get used to :) Sorry if it's a bad explanation. If you need more help, just ask :)

This lick is a b*tch to master. but eventhough i am not a superman on bass i have learned it in just a few nights with the help of SlowGold. This slows the music down without changing the pitch. And that made it a whole lot easier to listen to what he does. You should try it. The lick is so full of cool tricks that you will use those the rest of your basslife. Awesome bit of playing! Wish I could play like that. I think his sound is achieved by a number of things, firstly a fender jazz style bass which typically has lots of mid range 'growl', maybe some flat found strings which give it that sort of muted sound, not the sharp sound you get with round wounds and as a few people have suggested, lots of compression, or an envelope filter.

Sound treble focused. I would say Compression combined with something else. It still has high volume for the bass range, but I'm hearing a lot of fret sounds that remind me of when I turn the treble up on my bass.

COmpression only makes the notes relatively(sp) the same volume.

And what he's getting is kind of a growly tone, which is some-what desirable in some people's eyes... er ears.
