The grass is not greener on the other side. We stand on our side of our yards, wanting to step into the life/lie that the grass is greener on the other side. But when you step on the other side, you will fall, you will feel it, your knees, jeans are stained from falling, Life is NOT greener on the other side, you still have consequences. And when you step back into reality, Everyone will see, the grass stains on your knees....
"Then I turned around on that something, I guess I figured I didnt like you that much"
Then she talks about the grass being greener and wanting to feel it, and shes stained her jeans and everyone knows shes been in it. Sounds like she was caught cheating or she feels people are talking. So she was temped during a long and possibly stressful relationship and she yielded.
When I bought the Folklore CD when I was 7 or 6 (8 or 9 years ago) I had no clue what this song meant but I loved it. I am almost 16 now and I still love this song just as much, but now I understand it! Yay! It means that she thought something was better than what she had, but she realized it wasn't better. And that she regrets it, but life goes on. Nelly's newer music is good, but her older music is much more beautiful, innocent, and has a deeper meaning. I <3 you Nelly!
This song is about infidelity to me. She cheated on her bf thinking the grass was greener with someone else. When she realized that it was greener with her bf, she wants him back, but someone has already taken her place. "I've got a skeleton deeper than any closet and a bomb to drop on it?". She's talking a secret, one that she wants to erase.
I think what she trying to say is when you see that there is a place better than where you are now, you will work hard trying to get it, but when you get there its too late. Very meaningful though.
Maybe she's talking about that phrase "The grass is greener on the other side" and when she says "I just wanna feel it", she means she's on that other side, but it's not what she expected it to be.
@jammyc420 Its about having something good and you are never satisfied and always look for something better.... Just start to be happy with what you have!
I think she's talking about not putting up with what people think of you. People are always judging and take things the wrong way when they have no idea what you've been up to. That's why she sings "But i think i stained my jeans and now everybody knows thah i been in it"
I think this song is about not giving a crap about what people think of you..people are always judging and looking at you.."But i think i stained my jeans and now everybody knows thah i been in it" and "Yes, i'm a believer, never mind what they say
she's not talking about weed LOL...It's a metaphor people...she's refering to a good day, maybe summer, she rather wants to enjoy that then put up with this crap taht goes on this world...
Wow her eyes on the first picture...

She's talking about a relationship. "The grass is greener on the other side."
She cheated.
Then she "stained her jeans."
She talks about faith and happiness in life. She "got so tired along the way."
More relationships talk: "You opened up to me till I could only see the beauty in your dishonesty."
