Grew up listening to this on the radio--my parents used to love listening to the local NYC beautiful music/easy listening station. That station is now long gone--but certain stuff you hear as a kid you never forget. Heard it again years later on tv as part of the soundtrack for Rose Red =p Gave it a whole new meaning!! lol

I was driving an open highway somewhere California recently and as the sky was deep cerulean blue and the sun warm and brilliantly shining, this song came on one of the local oldies stations. I was instantly transported back a summer day at the beach, circa 1961. I and Diane were laying out a beach towel, breeze blowing, we holding hands and snuggling, occasionally stealing a kiss and on the transistor next to us, "A Summer Place," enveloped us in its strains.

Only a few years ago I was able to pick up three stations in succession playing this format as I drove south from Sacramento & this format is only played by a handful of US stations anymore, yet we have one in Prescott AZ that come into phoenix where I live.
