  • Reality 101

I have my Bachelor of Electrical Engineer degree. Sorry to break it to you but here is some reality. All that hard work you did means nothing when your classmates, arrogant or not, have parents and relatives hire them. Where does that leave you? Like me, unemployed. So before you even think about college make sure you have connections to get hired. Employers would not even let me network with them to show them I am a better and smarter engineer than their nepotism hires.

  • i feel like im god now.

  • I shall never understand entities like redsforlife88 and like. STUPID as they want to be. It is OK to be mediocre which most likely you are. You don't have to knock someone else down to feel validated.

  • This guy is a spastic , his is bragging on about maths math math math math.. Once you become an engineer i doubt you use the geometry and the trig any more, (personal experience).

  • @cagmaster101 I dont think he's talking about trig and geometry when he says "maths".

  • Ha 40 people in chem class? Try 300

  • @Seanjkbs Exactly.

  • dude needs to rename this video, "how ot succeed in Engineering College", College and real world are 2 very different things.

  • This guy has a superb, engaging persona.

  • I'm planning to study Mechanical Engineering when I go to college but one thing struck home learn to study! I have never had a need to study till now plus I'm procrastinating right now watching this!

  • @gamers209 lol same here.

  • I think he missed "get hands on experience." There are so many kids I meet who are either all theory and can't put together a simple circuit or never bothered to look for an internship or extracurricular project. An employer likes it much better when he doesn't have to hold your hand for the first year.

  • @Yusifinify This is definitely the most important. In my experience you learn much faster and more efficiently when you get to apply your knowledge and understand directly how things work. I think it's the fault of these universities as well as the students. These kids go to school for years and years but have to get trained at their job anyway. So what's the point? I went to Stevens in Hoboken, NJ, a 50k year school and these kids couldn't use a screwdriver.

  • I am 13 years old and i love everything about engineering.

  • @EverythingAllAbout consider being a Mechanic, you'll learn much more about machines that way, and your skills will always be in demand, it will always be easier to find a job. Engineering degrees are a lot of math & science, not so much knowing how to work with machines.

  • @CeletenteFan223 ..............and that is why you are a Mechanic

  • Real life flanders

  • What in the world make me happier than to c the mountain calculus becomes a level ground, huh? And going high up in the head, of course it's is never be a reason to boast, "Arrogant".

  • Its Ironic this guy is talking about studying and I'm watching this video in an effort to procrastinate doing just that.

  • thankyou so much!!

  • I'll stick to tip number 6, where I wear the patched elbow jacket and scratch my chin lol

  • If your looking to do engineering, do electrical! Im an EE student, did a fundamental paper in mechanics, god it was boring! Lol. Not meaning to be bias. But ask yourself this, what would you rather built, a terminator robot or a bridge. A solid state tesla coil plasma speaker or a bridge..

  • I hate when people say "do your homework every day". It makes studying sound so boring and repetitious.

  • sorry i dont A) work well in groups and B) dont have a life :( but thanks for the recomendations.

  • @xiofang gtfo

  • If you are watching this video then you need to get your ass to the books right know. This guy is talking bullshit. Just study, and shut the fuck up

  • I was bad at high school in math. At college i just get it. Its that easy. Learn the basics and the complex stuff will come from lectures and doing problems.

  • When he said "go get a life" he means "go get laiddd"

  • use this college time to fuck

  • @suppermartin1 loser

  • NEED A DISPENSER HERE

  • "you might have 50 people in your class", haha! 1100 would be more the case! but thanks! ;)

  • i should be doing my h/w now..

  • need a little help on my study skills. Need A LOT of help on the getting a life part. College is definitely different from high school

  • hes the first american instructor that i can easily understand speaking english because im not american....

  • fuck your study habbits... just listen to your teacher? they're there for a reason lol

  • Step 1 = Kill Yourself

Step 2 = There you go

  • @HDaviator lmfaooo wtf?? haha

  • I like this. Thanks

  • I went and got the jacket

  • 40 people in a calculus class? try 150-200

  • Helpful video, that professor/lecturer is cool.

  • You're a nice teacher ;) in my country ,studdying is so hard ,you need to be a genuis to just graduate from school , i'm looking forward to be an engineer ,after school i study till 8 oclock is my studying time okay in collage ??

  • Dang that's a nice jacket..mmhmm!

  • This steps would also help me in high school

  • this guy gave me a good laugh. he needs longer videos

  • thanx alot, i really want to change my self.. be an engineer .!!!!!!

  • One important thing that he missed "stop being arrogant because you are not that special" I am an engineering student and every engineer, student or professional, I meet is so f***ing arrogant. They will zero social skill and have there head up in the sky just because they know math!!! hey come on, man!

  • @becooldontfreez true.... they arent that sociable... i seen those kinda people in my college too -_-

  • @becooldontfreez considering you would not have planes, cars, ships, phones, computers and technology in general without engineers, in my opinion they can feel as arrogant as they want. without engineers you would not have many of life's comforts

  • @MonkeyEnus I think that is a very superficial way to look at it my friend. If those are the standards by which we justify their arrogance then there are many dark sides to their intelligence as well... like the tanks, the war air crafts, missiles and you name it... which kill some (to be safe) innocent people among some bad ones. By the way, my point was that we are all human beings and we're all equal, we should treat each other with respect & not feel that we are special. no bad feelings plz!

  • @MonkeyEnus in SHORT without engineers we wont' have most of our today world's problems either!!!! come on you've too agree to that too! In no ways I'm undermining the vast contribution of engineering in human's life... I mean look at the history Engineers have always been ONE of the main contributors in human life (though NOT the only one). If they weren't cool, I wouldn't be an engineering student myself... but that was superficial way to look at it. Arts & other sciences are equally important

  • @becooldontfreez It's true, a lot of the best maths students are arrogant although I find arrogant humanity/english students to be unbearable.

  • @gingerkidwithglasses Dude, that comment was the definition of b0sslike

  • @becooldontfreez Someones an arts student

  • @becooldontfreez Oh wait, your spelling would be better if you were an arts student

  • @Tetraetc What about my punctuation???

  • @becooldontfreez i'm an engineering student too & this is so true! its really a viscous cycle too b/c a lot of engineers (students & professionals) will mistake any form of incompetence for low intelligence which is really hard when we live in a world that implies one's social status to be the most important thing since sliced bread... so i really think that this "arrogance" is more of a natural defensive mechanism stemming from personal insecurities rather than self-righteousness or narcissism

  • @becooldontfreez Due to all the hard work it takes to become good, they have all the rights to be arrogant.

  • @becooldontfreez engineering students has the right to be arrogant.

  • @becooldontfreez so true...

  • @becooldontfreez Come on man what? They chose to do what others wouldn't do the work for, they deserve to feel better because they pushed themselves further than others.

  • @becooldontfreez Oh please! It's the liberal arts, usually philosophy majors that are utter arrogant fucktards. Even though what they "learned" in 4 years can be learned by anyone with a library card.

  • @H1TMANactual you would think so based on your viewing of Good Will Hunting, but I assure you nothing is that simple.

  • @becooldontfreez At least they know basic spelling and grammar. Understandable that engineers can be pretty nerdy, but please... PLEASE learn the difference between 'there' and 'their'.

  • @Johnomosquito10 lol touché

  • @becooldontfreez i also noticed that within many engineers. the reason is that a lot of them are not valued in a social setting(not interesting people, have not many friends, physically unattractive, constant rejection from opposite sex) so the only thing they have is their math and engineering skills. So subconsciously to prevent themselves from going in a depression, they become extremely arrogant in their academics to maintain a mental state of being valued

  • @danotronxx Maybe so. If I display such behaviour, it is simply because I find whatever you study to be total bullshit. Social science, political science, whatever.

  • @becooldontfreez Do you enjoy studying to be an engineer? I have several family members who are (two work for Boeing). I'm graduating high school this year and I'm nervous about studying engineering. I'm starting to have those second thoughts that seniors get. I mean I'm really good at math and especially good at physics. I was going to attend the University of Toledo next semester. I'm just really nervous is all.

  • @gtaclevelandcity you need to talk to family who work at boeing, if they think they can help get you an internship or a job there, that's the ticket, if they cant, then hold off going to college. The reality is, studying to be an engineer and actually being one are 2 very different things, today, most things are so complex that all that math and theory you learn is replaced by computers, you would learn more about jets & stuff going to mechanic school. then you could be a nechanic.

  • my son works for Lockheed Martin in Georgia, he just started at southernpoly tech for engineering degree.....

  • -- I have Bachelor in Electrical Engineering ,,, 1 1/2 years no real jobs/... Companies are just not hiring ,,,

  • 100% awesome!

  • Brilliant. I hope more people will find an interest in this

  • DUde your awesome i hope i get a teacher like you !

  • Thanks for the tips

  • Yeah how do I stop thinking about all the horrible things going on in the world? I know other ppl play video games/do social things, and so do I, but idk I just can't stop thinking about all the death in the world and how everyday were being lied to by our government. Its almost as if by the time I get into the field, there won't be enough money to motivate me to do engineering work, so i'd end up teaching math.

  • well you can do your part by becoming an engineer for the world and make things work. And leave the politics to the political student at your school. Plus money shouldnot motivate you but passion and dreams should!

  • Engineering is a profession, and as such you have to understand the ethics as well as the technical stuff. If you thing

Engineering as building stuff then it is a narrow view, Engineering is more about "problem solving",solving prblms by applying the technical knowledge/theories. Thats why there are engineering like management engineering and stuff, they don't build anything yet they are engineers cause they solve management prblms. And don't worry about the economy, its gonna be up in 4 yrs.

  • dude your negative attitude is what will hold you back, are you a billionaire already? if not then theres still room for advancement no matter how "crappy" the economy gets.

  • I need to change my mind set and what I do.

  • Thanks. I am recommending this to my students.

  • Thanks! I am attending UC next month. Your advise will help me in engineering
