this is the worst album Barbra has ever made.

and diana krall is boring, the two ladies have very different styles, and my understanding is that someone's manager decided this was a good idea, Barbra sounds as if she can't hit those high notes and the tempo on the ballads is unbelievably slow

I hate to say this but are they going to be singing together? I mean I could understand if Diana was playing the piano for Streisand, but the two voices are so incongrous, that I personally think it's a bad idea. I will of course buy it, but I was hoping for a piano and Voice CD with just Streisand and Legrand. For the first time I'm wondering what Barbra is thinking. Sorry>>>>

Funny to read your comment from 2 months ago now... As you may already know Barbra's new CD does not include any duet and Miss Krall just produces. Over the past years BS always said she was dying to make an all jazz album. She is very much into Bossa Nova too.

I don't think Barbra was ever consumed about the pronunciation of her name but I do think she was aggravated when a national news person such as Jane Pauley had not even taken a few minutes to make sure she was getting the name, ANY name, pronounced correctly. Because it's something Barbra herself would never be careless about, out of respect for another person. In terms of manners, Barbra has always been traditional. One of her core traits is thoughtfulness.

I can't wait for this album. I'll be buying it the day it comes out! =D I wish she would have answered his question about making film plans a little more specifically. Such as if she planned on it or not. I hope she wants to continue making films. I've almost seen all of her films, I need some more Babs to watch! Haha. =]

yup, the mature, "smokier" voice needs a different approach and setting. i can't listen to most of the Live 2006 CD with the exception of When the Sun Comes Out, which she reinvented to go with the sometimes still stunning remains of the voice.

Tommy Lipuma who produces Diane Krall produced The Way We Were album and Al Schmitt recorded it, and his streisand credits go way back ... but nothing recent.

I've always loved the jazzier side of Barbra and have been waiting for a Streisand pure JAZZ album for years. Streisand is THE female vocalist of our time and her now more 'mature' and smoky voice belongs in a more intimate Jazz setting, rather than the stadiums she's been playing.

Barbra knows her voice doesn't have the power it once did. Jazz in the style of Krall would be perfect. It's safer singing. Barbra was once named Playboy Magazine Jazz Vocalist of the year. Back in the 1960's.
