When I started to watch SoA, it was initially for Ron Perlman; but when Charlie Hunnam exploded in the first 15 mins, you knew this boy had arrived. His American accent is flawless and for a Brit to perfect that is astonishing. SoA is my favourite TV show (sorry Supernatural!) and see it as a unofficial follow-up to The Shield (greatest cop show ever).

It's habit. Some of them find it easier too. Dominic Purcell (PB's Lincoln Burrows) speaks in an American accent all the time instead of his Australian accent. He does this because since he's playing american characters in tv and movies, it's easier to just stick to one accent instead of going back and forth.
I think he has always had a bit of an f.****** upped accent, if u watch undeclared its obvious and early interviews with him. some parts of the uk they dont have an obvious British accent

he is from new castle which is in England.yes no he is not gay.yes this is real accent where in many of his films he does not use it. ok i think that's everything. believe i am from new castle i know the accent.

I rented "Undeclared" off Netflix b/c Charlie is in it.. he is awesome.. the roles he has played.. so convincing.. he's a great actor.. I cant believe more people havent noticed him.. He should be in MORE movies!! He mentioned that he has been to hundreds of auditions but nothing.. I cant believe they let this one get away!!

no he's not. he currently has a gf and was previously married. i've never seen the uk version of queer as folk but i know in the american one, the sex scenes were extremely graphic but not all of the actors were gay.
