I have not been able to find who is the mother & father of Kaoru in order to verify her claims of being a real princess. Just because your the granddaughter of an Emperor does not automatically make you a princess. Case in point, Queen Elizabeth of England's granddaughter Zara Phillips has no title. From what is known, it seems Ms Kaoru self-titled herself and does not officially hold the title of Princess. Besides, in Japan, when a Princess marries a commoner, as Kaoru did, she loses her title.
