Its always best to 1) ask AM I BEING DETAINED and 2) AM I FREE TO GO.

Collier County Sheriff's office as well as Naples P.D. really are ameteurs at their job. Coming from a family of cops in the Boston area there is an astounding difference of efficiency in the field of Criminal justice. Naples is a very corrupt town. Former Sheriff Don hunter for example has extorted millions of dollars of tax payers dollars as well as large distribution of narcotics. A word of advice of any type of encounter with law enforcement officials, uphold you're 5th ammendment right!

Don is little GAngster? back in the days.. slams those bars and goes Drink and Drive you going down commercial. I know some one else got jump by some politicaly connected people down there and when this fella called the Naples P.D. they asked who it was and he said gave them license plate and they ran it and heard some name of family and the cops just got back in there cars left. little Italy

This is no way to live, in Naples and Collier County we live in fear of the police. I go for a nightly jog around my neighborhood late since my schedule and family take much time - I get questioned. I go to the beach late at night to relax, listen to the gulf, and look at the stars - I get questioned. I take a leisurely drive at night when there is no traffic - I get followed. You can't do anything over here without raising suspicion. I feel like Im living in a fascist state!

I have lived in Naples since 1980. Generally speaking they have always been fair and respectable. These guys seemed like they were just gathering info to put in a database that may help that fellow traveler some day. Usually cops interact with people the same way they are treated.

Not always. I havent even been alive since 1980, so you would probably know better, but some are terrible. I live in one of the developments. When i was about 9, the police stopped my friend's mom because her turn was too sharp going into her street. It was 11:30 on Christmas eve, and she got, i belive, a $250 fine.

The reason police stop and ask so many questions of TRANSIENTS is because these druggies commit burglary, violent crime, murder, antagonize tourists for money, stink like hell and are worthless pieces of shit who do nothing for the economy and for America. nappy239: Some indeed are, but these aren't Naples Police officers, they are Collier County Sheriffs. They are doing their job and treated him with respect. I live in Naples and our Sheriffs are great. They had to identify this guy. He's transient. If an incident or crime occurred and an individual matching his description was a suspect, they'd be doing a disservice to the community by not getting info on him. They were professional and courteous. But you're right about some Naples police.

These cops were cool to me, as should be evident in the video. A couple other Collier County deputies fucked with me, though, for no reason, as did a state trooper in Lake Mary.

That doesn't really happen anywhere else except, oddly, southern California. Two months ago, some Fontana prickwads, I mean cops, roughed me up for no reason other than they profiled me as a homeless person. Also, a Montclair, CA cop cited me for some bullshit reason just to get a "homeless" person out of his town.

PlayerEdge must of done something stupid, had a run in with our Sheriffs and then got an attitude & provoked them to make such comments about our Sheriffs. I'm sure there's exceptions, however, the vast majority of our Sheriff's deputies are professional and courteous. Of course, when one breaks the law or is acting suspiciously, THEY have reason to fear or avoid Collier County Sheriffs. And for the record, most Mexicans here have families, work hard & live peaceably with their neighbors.
