  • Coming along nicely. That front end will be tight and safe. Brings back childhood memories. I too watched and help my Dad replace king pins. Rich

  • That is a thing of beauty!

  • I appreciate the series and your insights...5*

  • What style of cross member were you thinking of? I am a big fan of doing K-members over just a U shaped piece of tubing. K-members seem to help out with handling and ride especially when your running leafs at all four corners.

  • yeah, I want to do that but this is a temporary set up. I'm not going to drive it much with this old frame. I'm thinking next winter I will build a frame and then do all the fancy cross members and drop it and all.. right now, I just want it to NOT fall apart! haha

  • Man, I don't know who the hell they think they are but those machine shop prices are ment to turn people away. They can't possibily be for real if they really want work.

My grandfather taught me how to rebuild these when I was 14 on a '50 GMC pickup he had.

  • same here, was about 14 helping my dad on his old 48 chevy pickup. he used to put the king pins in the freezer to shrink em. then they would go in easier! I'm 58 and I've always remembered that for some reason.

  • man i love your ratrod more than rpeek sorry rpeek but this ratrod has a roof on it i like a ratrod that wont mess up my balding head and make me red as a tomater on top of my head haha (rpeeks ratrods still cool)

  • Rpeek's da man!!

  • cool deal.

my ford aa tractor still has the ball/socket type steering gear but it really strong for its age. the only play is in the box. but since i wont do more than 30-35mph it wont be too bad, if i can get it running again after tearing the engine down lol

  • hope you get it going and post it for us to see!

  • if i ever get the rad back from the repair shop. theyve had it for almost 3 weeks, the engines been together for 2 and a half. new head gasket and some valve servicing is all it needed. now the fun will begin, addition of the second transmission

  • Nice job on the king pins... 5*****

  • thanks, yeah, they turned out good
