It led to 22 years of brutal Haitian occupation and it would have still been the case if it was for Juan Pablo Duarte, Franciso del Rosario Sanchez, and Ramon Matias Mella. Duarte formed La Trinitaria which died a poor man as a result of because he used all the money he had on the cause of DR independence, because he was born into a rich family.

@lubime10 The way Dominicans can tell that a Dominican is Dominican from a Hatian is that Haitians can't pronounce "perejil" with a Dominican accent. They do it with a French accent. Dominicans are pretty good at NOT speaking Spanish like Haitians!! Haitians have a stong accent since Creole is their main language and Dominicans regardless of color speak Dominican Spanish with NO problem. Ur talking a lot of BS to get attention. I would never try to present the entire history of a people in one 6-7 minute piece. That was never the intent. I recently did a three part piece on Haiti but even still, there is much more history to know about that country. Haiti wanted to take control of DR b/c DR had no army to stop them, and Spain had already lost to Napoleon so DR was going to be given its independence. Most Dominicans are Mulatoos, and Black Dominicans are not confused for Haitians! We can tell our own apart from those savages that after we gained our independence kept trying to invade us and force us to be subordinate to them.
