1. The cost to the business. Where is the guarrantee that the business will not simply take its business abroad, rather than pay the medical cost. It would be more profitable for the business.
2. If the gov plan is simply anther plan amongst private plans, where is the guarrantee that the insurance companies will not corrupt that program to their advantage, like it is for the medicare plan.
Our current system has been created by the physicians, for-profit hospitals, and private insurers who lobby through the AMA for their self-interests NOT the interests of the American public.
Oh yeah, like when they repaired my ACL last year. They actually repaired it and then expected me to pay for what the insurance didn't cover! I had to pay about $3000 of the $25,000 it costs to do the job. What a rip off, that's less than a brand new MacBook Air. Of course right after the surgery they gave me a nice room with tasty food, a phone, a TV and some cute nurses. For 3 months afterwards they answered all questions and addressed all my concerns. Yep, didn't care about me at all...
Healthcare is the single most important issue in the 2008 election. United States is the only Western industrialized nation with out universal healthcare. The private sector is not stable enough for healthcare. Our own health is at stake here. Kucinich is the only canidate who coauthored the HR 676 bill, a bill that was supposed to lead to a more healthier and prosperous America through single-payer, universal healthcare.

The European and Canadian systems take this burden off companies giving them an advantage. This is not "a truely universal" healthcare proposal. It is a half-a-loaf measure that will not work any better than the present system. Insurance companies need to be out of the healthcare system. Of course, there might not be as many lawsuits for trial lawyers then.
You need to find out more about the European and Japanese systems ... the German system, for example, is funded through company premiums.

Even if the Democrats had a super majority in the Senate, they still wouldn't support single payer. John Edwards' plan is a step in the right direction.

Would you like someone who is thoughtful towards persons living in poverty or or someone who tells you they won't raise taxes or some other issue and then does it anyway?

If you don't think the current system is complicated, you have never had medical problems. Edwards' plan is different, but not more complicated. It will make private health insurance companies shape up because they will no longer be able to pick and choose patients they will insure AND they will have to compete with a government health plan. They will either have to stop wasting our money and actually provide the services they claim they do or go out of business.

Listen idiot. I know that you would love a "single payer" system, but only a complete FOOL would think that the Congress would ever create such a thing in one leap from what we have now. Even if the Democrats had a super majority in the Senate, they still wouldn't support single payer. John Edwards' plan is a step in the right direction.
