My father competed with the guy in the beginning of this video. His name is Anthony Washington and he went to Henniger High School which is in New York. My dad went to Baldwinsville and both of these schools are in Section 3 and my dad competed against him in every invitational. My dad threw 150's in high school and he threw 180's. He said Anthony had an amazing whip at the end of his throw. I threw around 115 as a sophomore and currently a junior at Baldwinsville.
I think that american track and field athlets are more fysikal than thecnical. Not in a bad way they have a amasing fysik but the thecnik isnt always the best. But you guys get far enyway.
But it was a long time ago that there was a reely good american Dicus thrower.
She is throwing a 1k. A different technique is possible with that size disc. Women are not half the size of a man, so their discus is undersized. Should be throwing 1.25 or 1.5 for the same technique to be needed. You can scoop a 1k if you want.
What you should do, is focus on developing your fast twitch muscle fibres in your arm to improve the whip-like motion your arm makes as you realease the discus from the power position.
true to a point, but the main power comes from how quickly and powerfully u can dig and turn the right leg and hip into te block of the left side....this is what creates the whipping action
@OchoaVolleyball Learn to spin the discus... I never was able to release the discus in such a way that it spinned nicelyk, like a frisbee (great spin = great distance)
hello i just started to throw the discus at my highschool and my ocach was never reall a thrower so either some good rferences or tips in general would be nice ill put up a video for some help later
yea im 14 and looking forward to this track season Im hoping to throw 175 with the 1k by the end of the season. and 130 with 1.6 by the end of the summer league(ASTF)
i honestly doubt you will get 130 with the 1.6 and 175 with the 1k... reasonable amount is 100 max with 1.6 and like 135 with 1k if your really that good
great video, im 17 and can throw 128 which is good for my school (2nd best thrower) shot at 45 and run the 100m. Love throwing. Btw what song is this?
Virgilijus Alekna (LTU) today in Kaunas has won his 37 victory in a row 71.56 (a total discus throw leader since 2005, first places in every championship). Gerd Kanter (EST) second place (70.92) and Piotr Malachowski (POL) thrid place (66.61) it was his best personal result ever. Everybody can check results in kaunas2007 . lt
You're talking about Robert Fazekas. Wikipedia has the article, but basically he had to submit a urine test and he apparently has some disease where he cannot produce a sufficient volume of urine when he has to, and they didn't feel like waiting anymore so they stripped him of the gold medal and gave it to Alekna.
Not necessarily, they only suggest it in the article... it's supposedly a rare thing, and more likely than not, Fazekas was actually just doping. Plus, if you compare his 04 qualifying throw to his winning throw in the finals, he's a ridiculous amount faster in the finals...
supposedly? lol. if he had this disorder why hadnt it come up in previous drug tests? he was doping. too bad too becasue i think he is a great thrower, unfortunately he knew he wasn't better than alekna and therefore had to cheat in an attempt to win.

You need to take a closer look at alekna.... Find a photo.... His forearms are probably bigger than your quads.

yeah i agree i think it the europeans that have technique. if you look at virjilijus alekna so ok maybe he was 6 ft 8 but hes not that muscular.

Do what they do in the video. What is your height, weight and farthest throw?
