  • i loveddddd this game when i was little <3

  • why did o canado keep standing still while he was on super mode? @_@

  • My guess is that her AI is partially determined by the scenario and partially at random. Since she is a slow character, she is more likely to stand still than other CPUs; I've noticed this several times. Often she will stand still either within range of an attack or in a very conspicuous place, like the center of a high, noticeable platform. It could also have been added as a compensation for her seldom-matched attack power.

  • So does Klaymen have the same moves he does in Skullmonkeys?

  • He doesn't have the same controls, but he has some of the same moves. He can still fire a Phoenix Hand (although it looks more like a real phoenix since he keeps his hands), and he can fire little bullets that are not nearly as powerful as klay bullets. The closest thing to a Universe Enema is the Mongo power, but everyone gets that. He retains his speed from Skullmonkeys compared to everyone else. But there are a lot of differences, notably that he can glide without a Glidey Bird.

  • "O Canada" Hey, that's also a cheat code in Age of Mythology :3

  • Does it unlock a sweet arena where you can "spin broadies, fishtail, pop wheelies and whatnot"?

  • @tkwtube01

Nope, but it does unlock an upright, flying bear wearing a Canadian-Flag cape who can blast lasers from his eyes and duel-wield monkey melee weapons.

  • Ehh, close enough.

  • I remember this game. I always went over to one of my friends' houses to play the story mode. They didn't have/didn't use the memory card, so we always had to re-unlock everything. It looked like shit and it played like shit, but it was still fun.

  • 2 greatest parts of the game: klaymen, and the neverhood guy at the begining:

    abah...abAh...ABAAAAAH!

  • I swear the first time I heard that, I thought that character was talking about "a bump".

Is that an insect or something? It just seems like it is because it's green and has no pupils.

  • @tkwtube01 Holy crap! I've never noticed that the neverhood guy didn't have pupils! The shadowing made him look like he was continually looking at the N.

  • lol man this game...seriously...

  • Let's be honest. Nobody bought this game for anything but Klaymen.

  • Unless someone bought it blindly, of course - but good point.

  • @tkwtube01 I bought it blindly - or rather, had it bought for me blindy when I was younger, and me and my twin brother loved it.

Ashamedly, I don't own it anymore. I'm not really sure whatever happened to it, but I'm trying to vigourously hunt down a copy.

  • I wish you as much luck as can be wished through a simple Youtube comment. Boombots is pretty hard to find, and I have only ever seen one other copy in person besides my own.

  • @tkwtube01 Thanks man, and it'd seem that way, yes. I've never known anyone else to have the game either, it's a shame I don't still have it. I'll have to search pretty hard for it I think, but I'll get it somehow.

  • @tkwtube01

Then I'm lucky to own it. I played it as a kid with my brother :D

  • @Toadsanime you could download an emulator and get it off of rom hustler...

  • @dyllman5 Yeah, I know I could likely get a ROM of it pretty easily, but I'd like an actual copy of it.

  • Dude, somehow I never had even herd of this game, intresting atmosphere.

  • "Somehow" you've never heard of it? Actually, it's a very obscure game, so I'm not surprised.

  • @tkwtube0 haha alright man, sounds good. I'll watch them whenever you post them up.

  • could you play the other characters in future videos?

  • ...I guess I could, but I already have some footage of that as part of my review of Boombots.

  • @tkwtube0 you even had the monkey guy in here?

  • Oh, wait, I think I misunderstood your question. I don't have footage of that yet. If I make another Boombots video, then yes, I will play as the other characters.

*looks over le Chip's stats, then walks slowly backwards*

  • "Blue Klayman"?

    Do they mean Knox's characters?

  • No, not those characters. I'm referring to Klaymen, one of the playable Boombots and the star of two other games. He's supposed to be colored red, off-white (beige) and brown, but when you play against him he is blue to distinguish him from a human player.

  • @tkwtube01 I know who Klaymen is, I was just kidding...

  • Well, it's funny you should joke like that. I actually get asked a lot about who Klaymen is, so you caught me off guard. It's such an obscure series, there's a much more likely chance that someone asking that would be serious. In fact, I think those clay animations are more popular than this game.

  • I still play this game. I love it so much!

  • This game was my LIFE way back when ;p

  • THUMBS UP FOR KLAYMEN!!!

  • ay its klayman from the neverhood

  • @nikopoulet yay, but is blue and have arocket on the butt

  • If you play as Klaymen he has his normal colors.

  • God this game sucked. Hated how much work they put into the cutscenes, but not into the game itself. It just felt so bland.

  • @Yoursoul101 then you gotta see the neverhod, its actually a game and the best of my childhood

  • I used to think that beginning thing was really funny! We still play this game sometimes. Used to play it all the time when i was like 8 or 9 omg i wanna go backkkkkk to those 'good ol' days'

  • Whenever you play against the CPU, or both players have the same character in Vs. mode, the second player has an "alternate" set of colors. Klaymen's happens to be blue, and his normal colors are identical to that of the Neverhood and Skullmonkeys. I just don't think he looks good being blue. He should still be earthy, maybe purple, or the same colors but on different parts of him (eg, a red head, an off-white body, etc). And all characters have rocket boosters, so naturally he does too.

  • Why is Klaymen Blue?

and why does he have a rocket in his ass?

  • good times, bad game

  • I remember my brother and I working for hours trying to get mandu...we finally won...

  • And your prize was the squishiest character in the game. Had I not known about Mandu earlier, I would have been very confused with earning this character.

  • @tkwtube01

He was actually really strong, if you used him correctly. I remember my brother and I calling each other cheap for using him in VS.

  • Why is Klaymen blue?

  • Not to be crude, but did they grab each other by rather personal parts during the grapples?

  • @IronPants I think it's just the abdomen. Although the game is rated T for Teen...

  • I remeber that level that was a litter box and there was a hot turd sitting in the middle of it lol when you walk on the turd, you'd lose health hahahahahahah great game brings back Hella memories when was young I'm 19 now haha

  • Now that I think about it, that would make sense being there. That level is, I believe, called the Feline Temple, home to le Chip, and I have footage of each level in my newest video, a review of Boombots.

  • Man I remember this game hahaha my favorite character was boomer and hans lol

  • BOOYEAH

  • I never understood why Klaymen had different colored hands.

  • and they flip when he turns

  • That's just a Hanna-Barbera style animation trick. It's just reflected to save space on the disk. Just like the sound effects are only Hanna-Barbera's to save money!

Did you know that you can purchase a CD of those sound effects for the low, low price of $465? ...Yes, that is a low price, actually. For professional sound effects some people spend thousands.

  • Yeah, I knew that, I do animations myself, and I do see how flipping the frame saves time.

Only $465? Yeah but are they useful sound effects?

Are they like, the classic Hanna-Barbera SFX?

  • Yes, the whole catalog! Everything! The ones they used in The Neverhood, and all the others too! It's called The Hanna-Barbera Sound FX Library, and it's pretty obscure, but the sites I've seen it on give a price of about $450, of which that price is one.

  • I used to have this game! I went from this to war of the monsters to kicking ass with darth vader on soul calibur 4!

  • God this brings back memories. I grew up playing this and the Neverhood

  • ummmm, why did Klaymen talk? HE DOESN'T TALK! lol, jk. great job. I haven't even heard of this game, but i finally know what Klaymen would look like in a fighting game.

  • He has talked about five times in history. Twice in the Neverhood ("Klaymen" and "I am the ruler of this world now, hahahaha"), at least once in Skullmonkeys ("Cool") and either twice or three times in Boombots ("Word", "Boom" and whatever he says when he wins). I don't know about Klaymen Gunhockey though.

  • yes he talks he pronounces his name at the good ending of the original game

  • Don't forget the bad ending. How Kloggish!

  • Nostalgic, Brings Back Good Old Memories!

  • Haha, Klaymen's arena is where you first come outside in the Neverhood.

  • Ah, you're a saint =] not enough people know about the Neverhood. I can't believe they went their separate ways DX

Hm.. exactly how much would I be sued for if I made a tribute game and put it online?

  • uh, why is Klaymen blue??

  • All characters have alternate colors. Any CPU-controlled characters use these characters, although Player 2 will only use them if it's the same character in Player 1. Klaymen's alternate color is blue, so he appears blue here. Once you beat him, you can unlock him and play with his normal colors on.

By the way, in Skullmonkeys there's a color-changing code, and if you activate it enough times you can get a color very similar to this shade of blue.

  • Neverhood was a reat company. I see why Klaymen was in it. He was the beginning of the Neverhood Corporation. If it weren't for him, this game probably wouldn't exist.

  • It's probably also a nod to the 'alternate route' TenNapel took; he first worked with Interplay on Earthworm Jim 1 and 2 and ClayFighter 1 and 2; yet by 1995 he had left for The Neverhood. Meanwhile Interplay put Earthworm Jim as a secret character in ClayFighter 63 1/3.

If you will notice, Boomer, Evil Boom, Hans T.R., Pittsburgh, and O Canada all have a 'family resemblance' to Jim. It was only natural for Klaymen to be put in as a secret character in this game since Jim was already taken.

  • Thank You So Much For This...

  • Those Dr. Pick intros remind me of Saw. I wonder if that is where the makers of Saw got the idea.

  • the cutscenes were hilarious, I loved the farting cat

  • LoL, Klayman!!

    Its so funny

  • I remember tjis game from soo long ago. Its a shame i dont own it.

  • It's a bigger shame that the population knows nothing of it. The only time I ever saw anything about it was in a magazine advertisement, and I was curious about the fact that Klaymen was in it, but I couldn't play it because I didn't have a Playstation at the time.

  • the only reason i was curious about it as well, except i saw it on a commercial.

  • God, this brings back memories

This game never got the recognition it deserved

It was whacky, funny, and pretty fun too

    The bosses were AWESOME!

  • XD Kleyman's arena is...what else? The NEVERHOOD!

  • And they took the graphics directly from that game! Except for the floor; that looks a little different. Some of the graphics were also re-shot, like the nursery's ceiling, since it wasn't in the actual game. As shown in Skullmonkeys, they did not get rid of the Neverhood sets. (In fact, they might be using the same ones for the 2010 movie!)

  • So, what exactly are his moves?

    I thinks he's using Bulles and Phenoix-Hands from Skullmonkey's...

  • Correct. His "mondo Boombot" thing, however, does not refer to the Universe Enima. Klaymen's moves are pretty much the same as all the other people, just his stats are different.

  • This makes me want to play whatever new Custom Robo they get to the states. Too bad so few actually made it here though.

  • This game is so reminiscent of Custom Robo. The resemblance in game play is uncanny. Out of all the secret characters shown so far I thought Klaymen was the coolest he definitely had a unique style and his arena suited him very well.
