  • Wow! I've seen other posts of Jamey, so to see him doin so well here is amazin. It's great what can be accomplished when medical staff are patient & supportive. And Jamey, what a star he was! When I saw the intro pic with Jamey lying down & the word autism, I didn't think it would be Jamey as he was lying so still, but when I clicked on it & saw you in the reception at the hospital, I thought you must have given him somethin, forgettin it usually has the opposite effect with him. What a star!

  • @SuperMissblueeyes Thanks so much. Yes, the right help, love and care makes such a difference in Jamey's life. I'm so grateful for the great nurses and others out there who work with Jamey

  • It's disconcerting that so one who looks so attractive and... dare I say... manly, can have such difficulties with self care.

  • @candistyx Thank you, he is amazingly handsome. It really hurts me as a mom when I think about how he would've been if he didn't have all these challenges, but then I have to remember who he can STILL be, despite the challenges....Blessings.

  • @candistyx He's amazingly handsome, IMHO. If he didn't have his challenges, I wonder how he would be...

  • i am so sorry for what you have to go through you are doing a wonderful job with him

  • I just found your videos and I wanted to say yall are doing a great job with Jamey I believe God is calling me to work wit special need children and adults I have a learning disabilty I love to work with childre ith austim and down syndrome and any other diabilty

  • @kaylaandnickforever1 That's awesome. The world needs more people who have a heart for developmentally disabled. Good luck in your calling!

  • He did a greatt job. how is he doing??

  • Just curious but have you tried getting him some ABA therapy? I've had the opportunity to see some nonverbal children with autism acquire a means to communicate, whether it be through words, pictures, or both.

  • @Evamah89 Yes, he's been seen by 23 behavioral specialists and had some ABA at school. We just looked at another Adult Day program for autistic adults that has a great ABA person on staff, so I'm excited about that.

  • @Evamah89 I think , this isa special form of "alien hand syndrom" due to unjoined corpus callosum .I dont know if scientist are working on this subject, to find the solution ,how theycan join the both part of brain.

  • I'm glad he is treated like a person and not someone who has a disability! He's an amazing inspiration.

  • Aw! He was great! Acted like a real champ there..mom you're doing a wonderful job with him..I to have 2 boys on the spectrum 1 is five PDD he doesn't he isn't agressive towards himself but he is towards others when he doesn't understand or get his way and a 3yr which was diagnosed with PDD nos but is going for another rediagnostic he is now showing symptoms of classic autism..but god bless us all and giv us lots of patience with our children which we love..

  • Bless you. I'm in awe.

  • bless you. must be hard.... :( my bro's a handul too..... he whacks his had real hard for some reason. Severely autistic too. He gets bullied in sch n comes home w bruises, torn off parts of his uniform or even small, open bite wounds from his classmate. There's only 3 ppl in his class w 2 teachers. ABA has helped, but its costly n not tt effective. Any suggestions?

  • well done ,, wasnt he brave...my lad would kick off and needs sedating to get any treatment...hope he calms down like him...awfull he has the self harm habbit..my lad did for a few months hitting his face till he caused a terrible cut ..but luckily now he only does it when the scab must itch.....keep the faith....oh my lad started colllecting little things to hold..im sure it was his way of controlling his hitting his head... .lesley ...

  • I'm surprised that he let someone stick a needle in him. For me sensory wise, I'd be out of there faster than you could blink

  • It's not everyday he lets a needle go into his arm, trust me...once he flew off the chair and it took 4 of us to keep him still and even then it was hard...all depends on sensory around him, etc...

  • He was having an awesome vegging out on the table there! :D

  • Because Love beats all odds and obstacles!

  • Love to you!!!

  • We rest when we have night nursing coverage, and even then, if he's exhibiting acute or intense self injury, one of us has to respond to help the nurse, as it can take up to 2-3 people to protect him from severe bodily injury. Sleep deprivation is probably the number one reason parents of autistic kids with severe behaviors eventually crack and have to give up their kids to group homes...nursing or respite care can literally save the family and help keep the child home...it's not easy.

  • I bet it must be hard for you guys... do you get to rest?
