Spike Lee had a very good point about blacks not being portrayed in WWII movies. Clint Eastwood is a slightly better filmmaker, which isn't saying much. I used to work for spike lee. Few people know he owns and ad agency called Spike DDB. Whenever he came into the office he was always very rude to the less paid workers such as the receptionists and interns and such. He wouldn't even say hello to them. One of the workers would say Hi - and he would just respond with Do THIS for me. Do that for me... NEVER a please or a thank you.

I am a big fan of Miller and really happy that he's not sleeping in alleys in clothes dragged out of dumpsters anymore. I hope that at some point he will find a bar of soap or a razor that is still useable so that he can clean himself up. He deserves to smell as nice as O'reilly and be as handsome. I didn't find anything wrong with anything Spike said because 1 it was TRUE, 2 it was his personal opinion as he had clearly indicated. I don't fault anyone for having an opinion. We can agree that Spike however could have been more tactful knowing the manner in which the media operates.
Since then however, Spike and Clint have come eye to eye and squared away their differences & I commend them for that.

as an african american i can appreciate many of spike lee movies. But he alienates the rest of the country by only focusing on black issues or black story lines. A truly great director should be able to make movies with diverse stories and plot. That is why i truly respect Clint Eastwood. i thought his performance in Gran Turino was amazing. Spike Lee had a very good point about blacks not being portrayed in WWII movies. Clint Eastwood is a slightly better filmmaker, which isn't saying much. I too am not particularly happy that there were no black soldiers depicted in Saving Pvt Ryan or The Longest Day, or the 10 part mini-series The Pacific. More Hollywood, Spielberg, and Tom Hanks' fault than Eastwood's, who is just going along with the status quo

I like Lee/Eastwood movies. Spike Lee is Afro-centric and he has a right to be. Getting on Eastwood is a waste of time. O'Reilly makes too much of a big deal of it with Dennis Miller. He tries to switch the roles around to make it seem that there is this broad institution of black supremacy and anti-white bias a vast majority of black people have. White people have benefited from slavery and segregation towards black even though they aren't racist or their ancestors had nothing to do with it

definitely can't deny racism. but to say that black people are free from this charge seems a bit cowardly. you seem to suggest that spike lee cannot be racist because he is black. i say that he most probably is. clint eastwood may or may not be racist, but not casting a black actor in 'flags of our fathers' does not offer evidence either way.

I grew up watching Spike Lee's films, and I consider him a terrific filmmaker. However, Clint has every right to make whatever movie he desires. I think his two WWII films were amazing and Clint proved once again why he's legendary as a director/actor/musician. I'm afraid Spike overstepped his boundaries on this one, but I'm still a fan. On another note, not too many comedians have the intelligence and aplomb to speak passionately about politics as Dennis Miller.
