I'm sure that his voice was more deep when he was comfortable, but not this deep. There were some points during performances, interviews and acceptance speeches where he seemed more comfortable and his voice was a bit more deep. There are points in This Is It, that are good examples.

I think that when he was speaking about normal things with no pressure, he sounded one way, but when he was emotional or trying to emphasize a point, his voice went higher.
