  • 79-year-old Man Falls, Dies Confronting Installer

    VIENNA, Va. (AP) ―

A 79-year-old man is dead after falling down in a confrontation outside his home with a Verizon technician.

  • I lived through this experience. They not only accidentally cut the water line, the cable 3 times, but they cut the line to the street lighting in our development. A friggin nightmare.

  • OMG, I saw this commercial on TV and was so amused because this is exactly what happened to us! They didn't tell us ahead of time that they would have to tear our front yard up which looks like hell. All they had to add to the commercial to make this our story was a guy coming to the door asking to use the bathroom"real quick" and proceeding to take a 20 minute dump. Yes really! They screwed up our billing so badly that they couldn't fix it. After many hours working with them, we dumped Verizon.

  • I can't even begin to express how upset I am everytime i'm about to troubleshoot an offline modem and my customer says "Yeah so those Verizon trucks were out here earlier today." Yes, FIOS is clearly more expensive, and it's not even faster - I encourage anyone to compare prices at each competitive speed. And come on VZN, $90 bucks for a new outlet? Thats ridiculous. While i'm signing a new service contract, how about I just loan you my kidney.

  • Perhaps trying to mimic Comcast's new advertisements that show FiOS installations as a home destroying nightmare, Comcast is under fire in Pennsylvania (via the Consumerist) for setting an 83-year-old woman's home on fire. How? A contracted laborer drilled directly through an outside electrical box, started a fire in the wood behind the box in the basement, which spread to the floor joists -- ultimately causing an estimated $20,000 in damages.

  • wow,i work for a construction company for verizon in NJ and this commercial by comcast is fucking hilarious because it is so true!

  • hahaha, my dad, my bro and i all worked for a vorizon contracted company here in northern VA, and we all cracked up at this commercial, i remember the good ol' days.....of destroying property

  • support ur RI and MASS door to door sales reps an sign up now!!!!! cable is history!!!!! ps goodluck cable customers in mass with no nfl network during the season lol!!!!!

  • Numb nutz Comcast settled the NFL Network issue already. It is moving from the sports and entertainment package to the classic package. Glad to see they hire intelligent people like you. Not knowing the competition is a death wish in sales.

  • I don't feel well for Comcast customers that have been lied to.

The reason many people are leaving CC is their widely bland HD channels lineup and a waste of HD on demand, maybe when Comcast Adds more HD channels and less HD Choices = On demand 2 min movie previews then maybe i will like Comcast but not until then.

Come on Verizon, Fall River, MA is looking for a Fios TV Franchise agreement!

  • I like FIOS internet for gaming, I get like 10 ping when I play CS. I got the Fios flex plan, 20/5 internet and Extreme HD for $80 a month. Only thing that sucks, is that you need a stupid box or at least a digital adapter for each TV.

  • reading the past comments it appears there are Verizon folks involved that may be able to answer my question - Why is my download speed slower than my neighbors Comcast speed???

  • Because your a dumb fuck and your computers a piece of shit...any more Q's?

  • My FiOS download & upload speeds suck compared to my neighbors Comcast speeds (WTF?).

  • Yo SithJedi, You aint got nothing to crow about. You hit what 15 jobs a day for what just about 20 an hour after how many years? If worked for Verizon in a right to work state with no union, and yes we do have states with no union, you would be pullin' that and more in under 3 years. Next time you talk pay and benefits look at your boss and ask yourself this, Do I make more by June than he makes in the whole year? If your answer is no, then go work for Waa Waa, you'll make more money there.

  • So what about layoffs? Cable only hires a handfull of actual "technicians" that are more like slaves. How does having to slap a ladder on a strand with no safety belt grab you? I hope you dont fall. Comcrap hires a bunch of "independent Contractors" to do all the work beause they pay all of you like garbage. They just pawn you off to the sub-slave driver.

  • Now for Verizon FiOS: Actual download and upload speeds will vary based on numerous factors, such as condition of wiring at your location, computer configuration, Internet and network congestion, and speed of website servers you access, among other factors.

  • OMG that was fuuny,Here is the truth behind Comcast Speed boost.

Actual speeds vary and are not guaranteed. PowerBoost provides bursts of download and upload speeds for the first 10 MB and 5 MB of a file, respectively. Hmm that doesn't sound like I'm getting all that magical speed.

  • I have FiOS and I am getting about 18Meg down and 4.5 up. My Neighbor has Comcast and is getting 33Meg down and 11 Up. How can this be? They are not lying as I used the same speed test on both with my laptop!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comcast has this thing called Power Boost which gives an extra amount of boost for like the first 30MB's of a download. It's really just a gimmick. Look up power boost, all the major cable companies use it.

  • rikk2112, you guys work on poles? Could have fooled me. I figured that with the 2 30 foot loops I see on every pole that you guys spliced all your fiber on picnic tables. oh wait, I think i may have seen two splice trucks in the last year. Sorry

  • That happened to me

  • point of order, some comcast shops are IBEW...

  • Vz fiber dedicated to each customer from Central Office to the house, Comcast, can't touch this da da da da, da da da da can't touch this da da da da, da da da da, sing it MC

  • hey fios guy, are you also the same guys splicing the fiber outside on a plastic table? im sure the guy mowing the lawn right next to it makes for a real clean splice. Also i have seen verizon use contractors in nj because they screwed up an entire housing development and verizon techs had to go back and fix it all.

  • Actually, MD contributes roughly half of all FiOS installs in the Potomac region....which in turn is responsible for over half the Fios installed in the Atlantic Region....which, um, includes your little NY/NE/NJ area's. Contractors dig, VZ splices, is the rule nationwide, thanks CWA. Pensions are great if you get your 30, tuition assistance is better if you have more than 15 left to go-who know's how this thing plays out, might need a degree.....

  • Fios Guy...I never mentioned contractors doing service calls. Your contractors digging ditches and running conduit have caused more customer complaints and county violations then I can count on fifty hands. Do a little research. People here are TIRED of the misrepresentation from Fios. We are doing just fine in this market. And as far as my pension goes, I have a fully vested plan, have had for 10 years, thank you for asking. How's my pension plan...give me a break!

  • Increased jobs per day and that's what you get, harass your associates with menial tasks, threaten them with contact memo's and that's what you get--who would know better than Comcast? Verizon used to be a utility company, now they want to be an entertainment company. WAKE UP VZ MANAGEMENT!!! Don't you see what you're becoming?--another Comcast! Don't ruin this great product with an environment set up to fail--stand up to Wall St. and do the job right THE FIRST TIME!!!

  • Its about time !

  • Hey Fios guy. Comcast guy here! You're full of horse ...I live in Maryland and Verizon uses contractors. Not only that, they have been shut down numerous times for construction violations. There are plenty of techs here who worked for Verizon, and went back to Comcast. Stop smoking your high service rates !! At least we don't charge $90 to have an outlet installed.

  • This is BS, no VZ union member would leave a job with great bennies to go to a non union shop! Pure BS! The guys who went to Comcast were probably retirees!

  • Try again tomdij...why are you guys so into your unions? Let me ask a question of you and rikk2112...what kind of courtesy services do you get with your UNION agreement. I'll bet you pay full price for your Verizon services. Not so with a NON union shop which we do not need because they treat us right!!! Oh that's right you enjoy paying Union dues every month. We have NEVER had a technician layoff. NEVER. That's how "bad" Comcast is doing.

  • I work for Comcast, frankly I prefer that Company. I have had Verizon landline service before and the jerks that answer the phone there are rude as hell. As for Comcast and having to kiss your boss's butt, that simply is not true. I don't kiss any tail at work and I have been there for nearly 2 years and have not had one problem. The thing is, people like you have the attitude that you deserve something for just showing up and paying your $15/week. I get free cable so I can make commission!!!!

  • Haha i have comcast and nothing against verizon but this commercial is funny as shit!

  • This is such a great Ad, Verizon, and their contractors are what helped design this ad imo. They have created so much property damage in surrounding underground areas it's laughable. Glad Comcast has gotten off their hands and made a realistic commercial of how it really is.

  • liar liar pants on fire..

  • best commercial ever

  • This is laughably desperate and retarded. One more reason to avoid Comcast like the AIDS

  • Fun commercial !

  • I never saw a Vz ad that slandered Comcast employees. Maybe they are not shown in my market area. I'll look thru YouTube or better yet, why don't you post a link.

  • Comcast is getting pretty desperate when they have to attack the employees of Verizon. This is sick!! The Verizon Ads so far have taken the high road. But this Comcast gutter slinging, insulting ad needs a response!! I guess the best response is to continue winning over their customer!

  • Uh, what are you talking about? The Verizon ads make the average Comcast employee look like a bumbling idiot.

  • uh, cause they are!

  • Verizon runs tons of ads poking fun at a fat lonely looking red headed "generic" cable guy. Hardly the high road. Just because they don't name a competitor does not make them saints.

  • Comment removed

  • Actually rikk2112 started with his/her UNION discussion. We don't need a union, our company treats us right. The Verizon ad has taken the high road?...yeah making someone look like a bumbling idiot is the high road, whatever!

  • Comcast is obviously desperate for business....

  • Comcast is difinitely not desperate for business I know because i work for them, ever since comcast came out with cdv we've been taken verizon customers and in just three years we've become the 3rd largest telephone provider. Why do you think verizon came out with fios because they're desperate for business, we've actually had customers that switched to verizon and swithced back to comcast because they didn't like the service.
