  • THANK YOU SO MUCH. This was honestly the tutorial I was looking for. It was perfect and explained everything well. Thank you.

  • @BeFruity happy I could help

  • Thanks for this tutorial. It really seems to have helped a lot. I'm shooting my first music video with my dslr...and i needed to thoroughly understand manual focus here pretty quick. thanks.

  • It looked like the banana's were in focus when you said the pills were in focus..

  • Thank you so much! I just purchased a canon rebel t2i and didnt know how to manual focus, but this helped a ton! Thanks!

  • @IRide4TheBlue Happy I could help

  • There's no fucking focus ring on mine?

  • @TeamPill what brand is your lens

  • @TeamPill If it's a Canon 18-55mm the ring is on the front of the lens.

  • @MattieCooper That is correct

  • how can imake it not to focus on anything like a natural shot

  • @baroc00 Is your lens on mf= manual focus instead of af= auto focus

  • Thank you. You helped me SO much. I kind of got the hang on it. For the back item (Pill bottle) when you focus it in, the banana should also be in focus, correct? I set up 3 items like you, and when the 3rd was in focus, so was the 2nd. I have an 18-55mm lens.

  • @DreadfulControversy With the 18-55mm lens it does not have the depth of field that my 28-135mm lens does so it my not be exactly the same

  • I have the Canon EOS 600d and that helped me a lot!

  • @teom44 happy to help

  • I love you for posting this video. Instead you can buy a 'Trudeau twist jar opener' helps for focusing:)

  • Sadly enough, whenever I try manual focus, I always eff it up. I don't know if I need glasses, but it never comes out right. I wish there was a "beep" wen something is in focus.

What I do is I just let it auto-focus before shooting my video.

  • @cpo2u Practice and preset focus for each secen

  • Im getting this camera.. but is this the same as a 600d? Im getting confused. It says Rebel T3i.

  • @boyofsummer79 t3i or 600d are the same

  • thanks for the video

  • @iresurycub Happy i could help

  • Extremely helpful. Thanks man.

  • @GoldenBears707 Happy I could help

  • you saved my life

  • thanks for this video. you just don't know how it taught a novice like me about manual focusing.

  • @piscean192001 Thanks and I do try to make it as easy as possible

  • @piscean192001 Happy to do so

  • if you want 2 depths of field while recording video is there a way to adjust the apeture setting so that everything you look at is in focus.

  • @IAirelandairsoft turn up ur apature but for a shot like this you will still have blurriness

  • Thank you so much!

  • @TheMcMichael15 any time

  • Thank you. Your video have helped my videos become better.

  • @ckhang Happy I could help

  • well what if you get the 7d, is its auto focus loud a bad?

  • @Jayronimo123 I never use auto focus for video only pictures

  • @MediaUnlocked oh well is the manual focus easy to use? for movies? will it defocus to something else if something fast is happening?

  • @MediaUnlocked so your saying for camera like the 60d manual focus is a lot better? i mean like rack focus.

  • @Jayronimo123 manua focusl usually is always better

  • I've got a question. I have a 550d that comes with a kit lens18-55mm - I can't find the focus ring that you were mentioning at 1:48. Could it be the focus ring placed in front of the zoom for the lens 18-55mm?

  • @08myjimmy Yes it is in a different spot on the 18-55mm lens it is in the very front of the lens

  • Hi!

I've tried many times this procedure, but I cannot have a rack focus :(

I've tried to zoom very slowly, but the thing "in focus" stay "in focus" and the object behind it, is out of focus. Sorry for my english, I hope that you'll understand me :D

  • @StuntmenLeo What lens are you using and do u have it in automatic mode or manual

  • @MediaUnlocked

Hi, I managed to figure out what to do. When I tried to put in the MF does not turn the ring in AF because it was locked and therefore I thought it wasn't the one to turn.

Thanks for your time, anyway! :D

  • @StuntmenLeo Happy to hear you figured it out

  • i guess this doesnt apply to the 18-55mm lens. is there any way to make this possible to focus on different things without AF on with the kit lens? if anyone has an answer please tell me! thanks :)

  • Thanks for this video! I just bought a T3i today and im a COMPLETE NOVICE. however, i love the art of photography and am planning on taking a course. One question, what results can you achieve with the 18-55 start lens? and i see you said your olympus lens gives better manual focus results, are they compatible with the t3i?

  • @MariahSadeMusic The 18-55 is a great get to know your camera lens but when u start to want to do more shooting in detail you will need other lens to achieve your pictures. The other lens was not an olympus lens it was a 10-22mm canon lens.

    David D

  • @MediaUnlocked thank you! =D

  • @MariahSadeMusic Any time

  • omgod, i just learned something ; AF stands for auto focus on my slr ! hahaha. thanks.

  • can you do videos in stargazing photography?

  • @Snakekilla12 To tell u the truth I know nothing about stargazing photography.

  • but are you capable to get the proper research to learn so you can share that with us? just using a DSLR of course...

  • @Snakekilla12 If I get time I will look into it and shoot a video on it

  • @Snakekilla12 any time man

  • Did you honestly just make a video demonstrating how to turn your focus ring? Wow cheers, didn't have any idea how to do that...

  • @samthomsa Haooy I could help

  • thank you sooo much

  • @scootergod1 Happy to help

  • You said in the video that you manual focus on a steady cam. How do you manual focus on a steady cam? whenever I try to manual focus on a steady cam the cam becomes unstable.

  • BTW i think most of canon's DSLR lenses are kinda crap for manual focus. I get much nicer results with my olympus OM lens.

  • @NitsanPictures I have not used there lenes if I ever get a chance I will try them out.

  • what is the price range

  • what type of lens is that your using for this video

  • @cashimirs looks to me like a canon 28-135..

i recently sold my 28-105 because it didn't fill any gap in my focal length needs. not wide enough for my taste.
