The mechanism that deploys airbags is just not that sensitive. In my Audi the airbag won't deploy unless the ENTIRE transmission moves. I'm pretty sure the Mercedes in the video (also designed for use on the Autobahn) has a similar, if not better, mechanism.
Not only that, but airbags are packed with cornstarch to keep them from sticking to themselves so they can unfold and expand quickly and smoothly. There should have been a distinct cloud of cornstarch dust when the airbag popped.
Please explain this: I was trying to open my CD compartment between my seats. The cover was stuck so I hit it. Next thing a know, my airbags deployed. I was stopped at a light and nothing hit me.
The sensor is usually under the center console, so when you hit the console you tripped the sensor. I've never heard of that happening, but I guess it would be possible, it would be pretty funny actually.

Fake. Airbags don't have sensors in the bumper. They have an inertia sesor in the center of the car.
