It's actually a combination of 3 different techniques...includes squeezing the living hell out of your diaphragm, hitting the actual note(like your singing), and then throwing in a bit of distortion in your voice by using the back of your throat during the note. Let me put it like this....I couldn't sing at all 4 years ago. My guitar teacher told me I should try hitting every note and make my voice sound as much as possible like the person whose song I am singing. After I did that I was able to hit notes and keep tune much easier. Of course you don't want your voice to sound like someone else your whole life, but when covering a song, it is better to do the vocalist justice than to shit all over his vocals. S
