it plays smooth on my acer F900 too. But if i play the same video with TCPMP or CorePlayer i get lag. The problem is: WMPlayer, wich works fine and smooth, does not support Xvid codec, so any xvid videos will be played lagged.

thats not the problem.

its the video render use on wmp! samsung chip is with MP4 decoder already so if the OEM added the driver for WMP to use to render, the video it will be playing using hardware decoding.

while TCPMP and CORE PLAYER did not add support for samsung chip for video driver so it will be lagging without hardware support.

F900 is clearly the winner for the chip Vs Qualcomm that HTC ALWAYS USE to earn more $ and build more lousy pda phones for people who dont understand.

5 stars, It's clear the HTC isnt as good performance wise than the Acer (got the HD, and videos look better on mates BB Bold) HTC drivers are basically crap as why the HD doesnt perform as its hardware suggests. Saying that, Acer's just a newer low cost copy of the HD (you can tell Acer tried to copy the HD's design and in the process, just made it look cheap), doesnt look as sexy, HD is smaller, and TF3D UI just looks so much better. also got xda support. Will never swap my HD for that Acer.

I played the video on my HTC touch HD, and it plays smoothly. No frame loss (except when I switch to full screen for a second or two). However, it takes 2-3 seconds to switch to FS and back. Switching is much smoother on the Acer. My HD runs, wm 6.5 with the latest drivers. If I play the video in Core player, it works better, but not ideal.

huh? do you know even what you're talking about? Snapdragon is better than this samsung SoC at everything. MSM7200 and snapdragon are two completely different things.

This video isn't h.264 it is standard mpeg4 stream.

Something had to be wrong with this Touch HD cause I've seen videos proving that Touch HD is capable of playbacking stream at similar quality through WMP.

But i agree, this video is not Mpeg4-AVC, i guess its mpeg2, i checked the vid with Mediaplayer Classic and it is rendered by the standard libavcodec instead of ffmpeg-mt codec which i associated to H.264.

So this fact actually places Touch HD even in deeper shit.Even XScale has better Video performance than that MSM 72XX shit, check out other Videos.

Acer F900 is running Samsung S3C 6410 533 MHz processor which has DivX/XViD support.

HTC Touch HD is running Qualcomm MSM 7201A 528 MHz processor which not support DivX/XViD.

You are telling everyone you are an idiot over the internet. Codec support is on windows mobile system not on chip. DIVX are not supported on ACER F900 smartass, You must have seen other SAMSUNG phone model that are supporting DIVX/XVID codec like the i900 omnia which uses INTEL chip. even if the system is with the codec,it must have a faster processor to playback a high res video

I agree bro, this happens on my Touch Pro but its the freaken Chip they use. Same for slow scrolling and so on. To get better playback, I use Core Player and its smooth as fuck but its sad I cant get it with Windows Media Player. I heard that Acer sucks though if your running multiple programs becuase of the limited ram. Is it true?

128MB is sufficient for many program but it depends on what program you are running, take for instant, TF3D, it will take away most of yr ram, that why hTC devices give more ram, but PC theory, if your CPU cannot handle fast processing, you need more buffering space, hence more RAM added to htc device when they using a slow CPU.

if you use coreplayer this video that i provide will not be smooth playing, do try it, even with Qtv driver, Qualcomm cannot handle well on high res video stiill

what is the video size?? Encoded? MP4? Well im saying cuz I run a MP4 (320X400) I believe and its really nice on core player compared to Windows Media Player on my Touch Pro. I heard that its limited Ram sucks if your running their new Today Home Screen cu its like TOUCH FLO 3D and it sucks it ram up. I have touch flo 3d disabled and run Spb Mobile Shell 3 so I can get better performance and it does.

my res is 720x480 for the video. coreplayer is a 3rd party app, usually for the test,we must have a OUT-OF-BOX ready condition, in term of rom customization, Windows Media Player must be ready & able to access any video driver on board.

coreplayer provides a more detail on benchmark, just play the clip u have & open media properties to see your dropped frame & played fps.

all User Interface takes up much RAM, as you depends on it to operate the phone. of coz 1 UI is enff. for me i use O2 themes, the rest is not needed.

as Acer rom is customize for its own UI, its wil take away your ram the moment you have it running, user can still unload the UI in settings

if we are able to cook the rom we can have a better control on memory, what to run & what to delete
