That time only Idukki district joined with Kerala not Kerala its called malayala Desam. Dam was constructed by Ramanathapuram king with the help of english government. So that time there is no question about your land and our land. So we build the Dam for our needs. Tunnel was the best idea to take water for Madurai and Ramnad.

Main motivation is run the water from north west to east then only water ill run over Madurai and Ramnad. Even these all works were done by Tamilnadu and english Govenrment. @smrkmani perhaps you failed here. idukki is on a single plate, but mullaperiyar is on the edge of two plates. frequent tremor makes people worry and what experts worry is everytime its a new tremor that means something big is in store, else normally after tremors happen in mild way and earth release pressure. i dont agree dam will burst now but an earthquake can and hence they ask new one.

If you need a local example, you can google for Kallanai... you don't need to straighten dog tail, just look around for true facts and do some analysis instead of blindly believing on politicians speech. The document is not convincing. It doesn't include the 3 stages of reinforcements done to the MP dam. One major/actual reason why water must flow through MP dam to Eduki dam. The answers to these two will justify the actual problem.

That time only Idukki district joined with Kerala not Kerala its called malayala Desam. Dam was constructed by Ramanathapuram king with the help of english government. So that time there is no question about your land and our land. So we build the Dam for our needs. Tunnel was the best idea to take water for Madurai and Ramnad.

Main motivation is run the water from north west to east then only water ill run over Madurai and Ramnad. Even these all works were done by Tamilnadu and english Govenrment. Tamilnadu PWD upgrading the dam all the times. I could say, this video is totally wrong.

@smrkmani perhaps you failed here. idukki is on a single plate, but mullaperiyar is on the edge of two plates. frequent tremor makes people worry and what experts worry is everytime its a new tremor that means something big is in store, else normally after tremors happen in mild way and earth release pressure. i dont agree dam will burst now but an earthquake can and hence they ask new one.

Another false claim is there was no dam engineering those days, Karikalan built Kallanai 2000 years ago (The first dam in the world) and there was no development those days at all. Let us not spread wrong messages and separate people.

@edamelaiyur kallanai holds less water,its like a canal and a bridge. every panchayat in KL has a kallanai type "dam" then.it dont loom any life or property damage to people as its not on seismic zone 3. it doesnt have height of 152 feet, nor water upto 15 TMC.it gets water only every 4 months a year when karnataka release water, but mullaperiyar hold 15 TMC all 12 months which tropical rainfalls on its catchment area.atleast think the tonnes of limestone diluted in water by 116 yrs

The main motive is to stop water for Tamil Nadu and divert to idukki and generate electric power and trying to break the agreement. one more information for u all the net amount mullaiperiyar is 11 TMC only but iduki dam capacity is 74.5 TMC the present level of idukki is only if 59.5 tmc if the fully mullai priyar water is released the idduki cam withstand. i will take atleast 3 hours to reach idukki dam k. so u educated people dont get panic ur state ultimate aim is to break the agreement and stop the rights of TN people on the mullaiperiyar water. That this we wont allow u to do.

It is this dist. of Kerala, Idukki, which has the max. area.of reserve forests, with a rich flora and fauna. The people leaving down streams, did not destroy any body's life by making such a dam and agreement. If the Mullaperiyar collapses and effects this dist, it's going to be a national loss to the entire country. Loss in case of 40 lakhs human lives, loss in case of the thousands & thousands of animals dead. Build a new dam, save lives. And we are not going to let this tragedy happen here.

If you need a local example, you can google for Kallanai... you don't need to straighten dog tail, just look around for true facts and do some analysis instead of blindly believing on politicians speech. If you think only you are talking with sense, then why was a law passed in Kerala assembly saying no court can control dams in Kerala. Why do you fear???

The document is not convincing. It doesn't include the 3 stages of reinforcements done to the MP dam. One major/actual reason why water must flow through MP dam to Eduki dam. The answers to these two will justify the actual problem.
